Four decades ago in Cebu, a craftsman shaped more than just a chair—he shaped a story. At a time when Hansen Design was among the pioneers of rattan export furniture, Pierre Hansen created this piece with a vision of durability and timeless form.
Years passed, and like all things touched by time, the original rattan gave way—carefully replaced with new synthetic fiber. Yet the soul of the chair remains unchanged. Its frame, its lines, its design—all still exactly as he imagined 40 years ago.
Now at 93, Pierre sits once again on his creation. The material may have evolved, but the craftsmanship, the purpose, and the legacy endure.
A chair rebuilt, a design preserved, and a designer still here to see it—proving that true design doesn’t just last… it lives on.
