5 LESSONS WE LEARNED AS A HOME-BASED CAFÉ OWNER 🍵🌿
☕️1. You don’t need an expensive machine to make good coffee.
A ₱200k machine won’t magically make you a good barista. Learn your craft. Understand your beans. Get your recipe right. At the end of the day, people remember how good the coffee was, not how much your machine cost.
☕️2. You don’t need to start grand.
Our first setup wasn’t fancy. It was simple, small, and honestly, far from perfect. But it was enough to start. You don’t need the perfect café to begin. Sometimes, you just need the courage to open the door.
☕️3. Not everyone is your friend. And not everyone wants to see you grow.
This one took us a while to learn. Some people will genuinely support you. Others will compare, gossip, compete, or even try to pull you down. Even some people in the same industry won’t be happy when they see you doing well.
Let them.
You don’t have to explain yourself to everyone. Keep building.
☕️4. Not everything is a competition.
There will always be another café selling coffee. Another café selling matcha. Another café with a bigger space, better equipment, or more followers.
So what?
Make good coffee. Be consistent. Treat your customers well. Create an experience they’ll remember.
You don’t need to destroy someone else’s business to build yours.
☕️5. Stay grounded. Keep the passion.
Because once you start growing, it’s easy to forget why you started.
Remember the small setup. Remember the first customer. Remember the days you questioned if anyone would even come.
Growth is beautiful, but staying humble is even more important.
Start small. Learn. Grow. Stay kind. Make good coffee. And never lose the passion that got you here🤎☕
