This is the story behind Deja Brew Coffee and Pastries.
When people walk into our café, they see coffee, pastries, and a cozy place to spend time with family and friends.
But what many don't see are the years of struggles, sacrifices, prayers, and unwavering faith that built this place.
Before Deja Brew, before the coffee, before the café, I was simply a mother trying to build a better future for my daughter.
I raised her on my own, and because she only had me, I never wanted to be far from her side. Every decision I made, every risk I took, and every dream I chased was always with her in mind.
Years ago, I owned a travel and tour business. I loved helping people travel and create memories. I truly believed that was the path God had prepared for me.
Then the pandemic came.
Like many businesses in the tourism industry, mine slowly came to a stop. Flights were canceled. Travel disappeared. The business I worked so hard to build could no longer continue.
It was one of the most painful seasons of my life.
But looking back now, I realize that even in that disappointment, God was teaching me something. The experiences, skills, and lessons I learned from that business are things I still carry with me today.
After that chapter ended, I decided to come back home and stay closer to my daughter.
That's when D'Patio was born.
To my surprise, many customers loved it. People supported us, and for a moment, I thought that was where my journey would continue.
But life had another plan.
I needed to move to Batuan to help my aunt with her business, and with a heavy heart, I closed D'Patio.
I remember wondering if I was making the right decision.
I remember asking God why every time I started something, I eventually had to let it go.
But sometimes, God closes one door because He is preparing another.
While helping my aunt, I received a salary and commission. Instead of spending it, I saved what I could because deep inside, I still carried a dream that refused to die.
I wanted to build something of my own.
I wanted to create something that my daughter could one day be proud of.
And during those days, my father became one of my greatest supporters.
Whenever my budget fell short, he was there.
Whenever I doubted myself, he encouraged me.
Without his help, I honestly don't know if Deja Brew would have ever existed.
Finally, I gathered enough courage to start again.
With limited resources and a heart full of hope, I opened Deja Brew Coffee and Pastries.
At the beginning, we only had two tables and four chairs.
That's it.
No fancy equipment.
No beautiful interiors.
No guarantee of success.
Just a dream.
But something amazing happened.
People came.
They stayed.
They supported us.
And little by little, Deja Brew began to grow.
Then, in the most unexpected way, I met the man who would become my husband.
What started as simple conversations became friendship.
Friendship became love.
And love became a shared vision for the future.
He didn't just believe in me.
He believed in the dream.
He helped me with my Airport Bazaar ventures, supported my ideas, and became my partner in every sense of the word.
Together, we dreamed of building something bigger than ourselves.
Of course, the journey wasn't always successful.
There was a time when we rented a very small space near BISU.
We hoped we could compete with the larger businesses around us.
We worked hard.
We sacrificed.
We gave everything we had.
But despite our efforts, customers couldn't easily find us.
The space was too small, our resources were limited, and eventually we realized that chapter wasn't meant to succeed.
It hurt.
But every setback taught us something valuable.
Every failure became a lesson.
Every disappointment became preparation.
Then came another blessing.
While we were building our current café, I became pregnant.
Many people would have chosen to rest.
But my husband and I continued building our dream together.
There were nights when everyone else was asleep, but we were still working.
Painting walls.
Building sofas.
Installing fixtures.
Cleaning floors.
Organizing furniture.
Trying to save every peso we could by doing the work ourselves.
I still remember those long nights.
Tired.
Pregnant.
Exhausted.
Yet full of hope.
Because we knew we weren't just building a coffee shop.
We were building a future.
We were building a home for our dreams.
And through it all, our parents continued supporting us by allowing us to use their vacant garage.
That garage became the foundation of everything.
Without that support, our story might have been very different.
Today, when I look around Deja Brew Coffee and Pastries, I don't see walls, tables, or coffee machines.
I see every chapter that brought us here.
I see a single mother who refused to give up.
I see a daughter who inspired every sacrifice.
I see a father who stepped in whenever resources were lacking.
I see a husband who stayed beside me through every challenge.
I see prayers whispered during uncertain nights.
I see failures that became lessons.
I see God's faithfulness in every season.
This café was never built overnight.
It was built through heartbreak.
Through perseverance.
Through faith.
Through family.
And through countless moments when giving up would have been easier than continuing.
So every time you enjoy a cup of coffee here, know that you're not just supporting a business.
You're becoming part of a story.
A story of resilience.
A story of hope.
A story that proves that even the smallest dreams can grow into something beautiful when they are built with faith, hard work, and love.
