Sakura (cherry blossoms) are the delicate, spring-blooming flowers of trees in the Prunus genus. Celebrated for their stunning colors that range from crisp white to deep pink, the blossoms are renowned for their papery, notched petals, subtle vanilla-almond fragrance, and cultural symbolism of renewal, beauty, and the fleeting nature of life.

Fun facts:

* There are over 600 Varieties. Japan is home to more than 600 species and hybrid varieties of cherry blossoms. However, the most common is the Somei-yoshino, making up about \(80\%\) of the country's sakura trees.
* They are edible! You can actually eat sakura petals and leaves! They are often preserved in salt and used to flavor traditional sweets (like sakuramochi) and hot water teas, giving off a sweet, fruity, and slightly sour flavor.
* Historically, fallen cherry blossoms represented the short but heroic lives of the samurai. Today, the bloom is a poetic reminder of the impermanence of life and the beauty of the present moment.
