Blessed to know someone with such a giving soul. God bless you more! 🙏🙌
The Good Samaritan Is Still Helping Benguet
In 2018, when Typhoon Ompong devastated parts of Benguet, Mr. Brett Mitchell, originally from Michigan, USA, personally drove to Kabayan to extend a helping hand to affected communities.
He brought his personal generator, construction supplies, fuel, and other goods for donation. He even offered his own vehicle to help haul relief goods and stayed with the LGU team to assist in their efforts.
Eight years later, he is still here, still helping.
Following the heavy rains brought by the Habagat and the devastating landslide in Guisad Surong, Baguio City, Mr. Mitchell once again stepped forward, this time together with his 5 year old Golden Retriever, Zuma, a trained search and rescue dog.
Zuma underwent a year of search and rescue training in Davao and has already participated in several operations. Together, Mr. Mitchell and Zuma joined responders in the difficult search for those reported missing after the landslide.
From bringing relief to Kabayan in 2018 to helping search for lives in Baguio in 2026, Mr. Mitchell continues to show that being part of a community is not determined by where you were born, but by your willingness to stand with its people when they need you most.
Thank you, Mr. Brett Mitchell and Zuma, for continuing to serve the people of the Cordillera.
A good Samaritan then. A good Samaritan still.
