The Department of Tourism-CAR, in partnership with the Slow Food International and Mountain Partnership, spearheaded the Food and Tourism for Mountain Development and A Taste of the Cordillera Forum at the World Food Expo 2019 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City on August 9, 2019.

The resource speakers for the seminar were Mr. Federico Mattei from Slow Food International, Ms. Elma M. Serna from SHALCOGA, Mr. Michael Harris from Henry and Sons, Me. Lam-en Gonnay from Rice Terraces Farmers Co-operative Kalinga, Ms. Pacita Juan from Echostore, Ms. Jacqueline Carino as the Executive Director of Philippine Task Force for Indigenous Peoples' Rights and Ms. Jovita A. Ganongan, the Officer-In-Charge of the Department of Tourism- CAR. The event was also attended by Ms. Marie Venus Tan, the COO of Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), and Directors and staff of the Department of Tourism from different provinces.

The forum was followed by food tasting and demonstrations from Chef Roberto Kalugdan from Ibulao-Ibulao B&B and Chef Charlynne Buangan from Green Pepper.

The food tasting featured varieties of Cordillera Gastronomy such as the Inanchila made from the Heirloom Rice of Pasil, Kalinga; Bruschetta that highlights Pinuneg pf Ifugao; Soup made with Kiniing and Heirloom Rice; and, Arabica Coffee from Itogon, Benguet.

The forum was participated by more than 50 participants from the different parts of the country.

Had a sumptuous dinner at Green Pepper Dos at Leonard Woods Terraces.The place is simply cosy with cool atmosphere.Great Cordillera food fusion as they boast (native food delicacies cooked with a touch of somewhat French o Italian).A must try for their kiniing meat with garbanzos n red beans and singigang kiniing plus a whole lot more.Ended the night with their beautifully brewed 'barako' with some special mix and freshly baked dark chocolate cake as desert.Thank you to the birthday celebrant and family and the esquire services from the waiter/s up to the management.
