The business is divided into three parts: a library, a cafe, and a bakery to target three levels of customer satisfaction. Agaton, Books and Brews started its operations in January of 2022. It came from the idea and own experience of the owner during the height of the lockdown year 2020. Pauline is a striving student who loves to drink caffeine and has a silent space during study and work sessions
. The name Books and Brews originated from the product and service offered by the company: a combination of a cafe, library, and bakery of sweet and savory treats. Realizing that she is not the only student who seeks a silent, safe space and environment to study, work, and have alone time, Pauline decided to come up with a plan to establish Books and Brews in August 2021. By September of the same year, Pauline has successfully bought a commercial space in Central Business District, Baguio City. In the same month, Pauline collaborated with KeepingCoffee as the main supplier of roasted beans from Atok, Benguet. Around November, Pauline hired and employed staff to experiment with recipes of coffee and bread. In December 2021, the interior design and furniture inside the cafe are already installed and ready for use. The books inside the library cafe are a personal collection of the owner–with a few books bought to add to the collection–to share her passion for books and learning. On January 10, 2022, Books and Brews opened its first franchise, welcoming students and customers of all ages to embrace the diversity of needs that every customer want. It upholds its vision of being a home for everyone to read, study, and chase their dreams while staying in the cafe.
