God is One.
Not three gods.
Not four.
Not five.
Not many beings sharing divinity.
One Eternal God revealing Himself in different ways according to His purpose, glory, and nature.
Now let’s talk about God’s angelic nature revealed throughout Scripture.
God is not only revealed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, He also appeared as the Angel of the Lord to many people. He appeared to Moses in the burning bush. He appeared to Abraham. He appeared to Hagar when she fled from Sarai into the wilderness.
The Angel of the Lord spoke to Hagar, and she recognized it was God Himself seeing her in her pain. That is why she called Him:
📖 “El Roi” — “the God who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)
This was not an ordinary angel.
Throughout Scripture, people bowed in reverence before the Angel of the Lord because God’s presence was there. Yet ordinary angels never accept worship.
In Revelation, when John bowed before an angel, the angel immediately stopped him saying:
📖 “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you.” (Revelation 22:8-9)
Why?
Because true angels point worship back to God alone.
But in the Old Testament, the Angel of the Lord carried God’s authority, spoke as God, and revealed holy ground wherever He appeared.
📖 Exodus 3:2-6 — The Angel of the Lord appeared in the burning bush, yet moments later God Himself spoke saying:
“I AM WHO I AM.”
God also appeared before Joshua as the Commander of the Army of the Lord. When Joshua saw a man standing with a drawn sword and asked whose side He was on, the Commander answered:
📖 “Neither, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” (Joshua 5:14)
Joshua immediately fell facedown in reverence, and the Commander told him:
📖 “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” (Joshua 5:15)
These were not ordinary created angels.
This was God revealing Himself in angelic form before coming into the world through Jesus Christ.
To understand it simply:
a man can be both a pastor and a husband at the same time. He reveals one role in church and another role at home, yet he remains the same person.
In the same way, God reveals Himself according to His will and purpose, yet He remains One.
Then the fullness came through Jesus Christ.
📖 “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” — John 1:14
📖 “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.” — John 14:9
The same God who spoke through fire,
walked with Israel,
appeared as the Angel of the Lord,
stood before Joshua,
and revealed His presence throughout the Old Testament,
came into the world in flesh through Jesus Christ.
One God.
One throne.
One Kingdom.
One Savior.
