نحتفي بموسم ورد الجبل، أسابيع قليلة نعيد فيها اكتشاف معنى الجمال في طبيعة الجبل الأخضر؛ حيث تنبسط الأرض الخضراء متورّدةً بنعومة في وفرةٍ باهرة. | We celebrate the season of mountain roses— briefly, when beauty is rediscovered in the soul of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, where the verdant land unfolds, softly blushed in lavish bloom.

‏What’s with the hanging Kumah? | تبيعوا كميم؟

نستمتع باللعب بعناصر ثقافتنا العُمانية، برؤيتها من الأمام والأسفل، وأحيانًا وهي مُعلّقة. تُمثّل الكُمّة أجمل مشاهد موسم الورد لدينا؛ حين لا يجد الشاب قفيرًا يضع فيه وردًا يملأ يداه، فإنه يتجه إلى قمة رأسه، منتزعًا قطعةً مُطرّزة تميّزه، وتجعل من عُمانيّته شيئًا جليًا للعيان.

وحين تُرافق الصبية أخاها الصغير في رحلةٍ استكشافية للمزارع المجاورة، فيتشاركان كُمّته لجمع ما يسعهما جمعه. كُمّة وورد، في مشهدٍ ثقافي جميل يثبت في ذاكرة القلب.

We enjoy playing with elements of our Omani culture—seeing them from the front, from below, and sometimes simply watching it hanging. The kumah represents some of the most beautiful scenes of our rose season; when a young man cannot find a basket to gather roses that fill his hands, he turns to the top of his head, removing the embroidered piece that distinguishes him and makes his Omani identity clearly visible.

And when a young girl accompanies her little brother on an exploratory trip to the neighboring farms, they share his kumah to gather whatever they can. A kumah and roses—forming a beautiful cultural image that remains etched in the memory of the heart

“وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ” (سورة البقرة، 186)

شهر القرب منه، واليقين بأنه الأقرب لنا، والمستجيب لدعواتنا دون وسيط. إله رؤوف ورحيم، وكريم في عطائه.

“When My worshipers ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the supplication of the suppliant when he calls to Me; therefore, let them respond to Me and let them believe in Me, in order that they will be righteous.” (Al’Baqarah; 186)

The month of being closer to Him, and of certainty that He is closest to us—the One who answers our prayers without any intermediary. A Lord Most Kind and Most Merciful, generous in His giving.

شهر النور، إنه الوقت الّذي يستحق أن تتزين به الطرقات والأسقف، عاكسةً الفرح الصافي والأماني الّتي نرفعها للسماء بحضوره.

“Light upon light; Allah guides to His Light whom He will. Allah strikes parables for people. Allah has knowledge of all things.” (Surat An Noor: 35)

The month of light. A time when streets and rooftops shine with joy, and hands are lifted with prayers filled with gratitude for its arrival.
