Sometimes the best kind of escape is just a few steps from your room. 💦

Our pool is set in lush subtropical gardens — the perfect place to cool off, zone out, or pretend you're somewhere far, far away (cocktail optional, but highly recommended).

Whether you're doing lazy laps or just here for the sun loungers, our poolside spot is a guest favourite for good reason.

A good night’s sleep isn’t just a luxury — it’s essential for your health and wellbeing. Research shows quality sleep supports everything from memory and mood to immunity and heart health. And it all starts with the right bed.

At Flames Hotel, we take sleep seriously. Raewyn, our owner, knows first-hand the difference a great bed makes. That’s why every bed in our rooms has been carefully chosen for its comfort and quality — so you can truly relax, unwind, and wake up refreshed.

Did you know?

Flames Hotel has a fascinating history — originally built by DB Breweries in the early 1970s, our hotel is nestled in lush subtropical gardens with stunning views over native bush and the inner harbour at Onerahi.

One of our most unique spaces is the Lava Bar — set above a natural lava flow, this outdoor bar is surrounded by native bush and available for private hire. Follow the walkway and you’ll discover a hidden deck overlooking a tranquil waterfall — the perfect spot for a toast or a photo!

We love our Hotel and it's surroundings and we think you will too!

Got a meeting, event, or just a hungry team to feed? We’ve got catering covered.

Our catering boxes are packed with a delicious mix of sweet or savoury bites — perfect for office lunches, morning teas, or making a good impression on the in-laws. Each box comes neatly packaged in eco-friendly kraft boxes with lids (because presentation matters, and so does the planet).

We’re happy to accommodate dietary requirements — just let us know, and we’ll take care of the details. Delivery within Whangārei central is available for just $15, making it all too easy.

Tasty, tidy, and right to your door — what’s not to love?

“Do you have parking?”
It’s one of our most frequently asked questions — and the answer is a resounding yes!

Whether you’re rolling in with a classic car club, driving something the size of a small bus, organising a group event, or simply popping in for coffee and not keen on a long walk, you’ll find plenty of space to park up.

Room for everyone — from Minis to muscle cars and everything in between. 😉

🎶 Our latest Jazz Session was an absolute hit! The incredible Emily Joy and Railway Pie wowed the audience with their smooth sounds and sensational talent. Thanks to the Whangarei Boys High Jazz Band for their amazing contribution too.

A big thank you to the Northern Jazz Society for curating such an outstanding lineup of artists throughout the year — we’re proud to host this vibrant event each month and love seeing our space come alive with music.

Stay tuned for details on the next one!
