Public Statement from Simone G , Former Owner of DoubleZero
Google Small Business Google WhakatÄne Inland Revenue NZ
My name is Simone Guaragna, and today, I am here to tell you the truthâthe full, unfiltered truth. The forced liquidation of my business, DoubleZero, was not just a financial crimeâit was a calculated betrayal, an attack on my integrity as a woman, and a brutal violation of the trust I placed in two menâEthan James nunez and Beau James Thompson. The trauma from their abuse was so intense, it led to me being hospitalized.
For seven years, I poured my heart, soul, and over $120,000 into building DoubleZero from the ground up. It was my vision, my sweat, my sacrifice. I trusted Ethan James Poultonâ a shareholder who acted as a shadow director, pulling the strings from behind the scenesâto manage the finances, operations, and debts, because I lacked the expertise. Instead of showing loyalty, Ethan James Poulton walked away without warning, took control of critical accounts, and left me in the dark. He left me with nothing but my will to survive.
This was not just betrayalâit was calculated manipulation. Ethan James nunez Poulton and Beau James Thompson didnât come in to helpâthey came in to exploit my vulnerability, to control the situation. They told me that liquidation was the only option to pay debts and settle with employees, but that was a lie. Behind my back, they actively blocked offers from potential buyers, deliberately sabotaging any chance of selling the business, all so they could take it for themselves.
With the help of their associate, Paul Nicholson, they pressured me into liquidation, exploiting the process to acquire DoubleZero's assets for just $11,000âwhile leaving employees unpaid and the IRD out in the cold.
They didnât just take my businessâthey stole my work. And now, they have the audacity to reopen the same restaurant with the same name without paying for the goodwill they stole. This is theft. This is the theft of my legacy. I am the one left holding the debts with the IRD and the employees, left to face the consequences of their deceitful and ruthless scheme.
They preyed on me when I was stressed, vulnerable, and trying to keep everything afloat. Their actions were nothing short of predatory.
Let me be clearâthis wasnât just about financial loss. This was personal. Beau James Thompson didnât just steal my businessâhe tried to steal something far worse. He made sexual advances toward me, touched me inappropriately, and consummated the abuse by telling me that if I slept with him, he would return my business to me. He violated me in the most intimate way. This was not just unethicalâthis was predatory, vile, and abusive. It was an attack on my dignity as a woman. And I will not stand by and let it go unchallenged. I will not be silenced, and I will make sure that his actions do not go unpunished.
But the manipulation didnât stop there. Ethan James Nunez Poulton and Beau James Thompson didnât just try to break me financiallyâthey tried to break me mentally. They threatened me. They told me to âshut up and leave Whakataneââto leave New Zealand altogether. They said if I spoke out, if I told the truth, there would be consequences. They threatened my life, my livelihood, my reputation.
But let me make this absolutely clear: I WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED. I will not remain silent. This is bigger than me. This is about every woman who has ever been threatened, silenced, or made to feel like they donât have the right to speak up.
I have reported their actions to the liquidators and the IRD, but understand this: It wonât be easy. It wonât be cheap. I canât afford it, but I WILL FIGHT ANYWAY.
This isnât just about a business. Itâs about accountability. Itâs about saying to every predator, to every manipulator: You will NOT get away with it.
To every woman who has ever been harassed, abused, or silencedâI stand with you. We must stand together. We must fight for each other. We must demand that those who abuse their power face the consequences. I will fight for whatâs rightâfor myself, and for every woman who has ever been told to stay quiet.
Thank you for listening. Let it be a reminder: No oneâs power, no oneâs influence, should ever be used to manipulate, abuse, or silence. I will no longer stay silent.
