I think it's about time we started introducing this years WCIPA Challenge entries! Here are the first four...
Brew Union - Mary Hoppins
ABV: 7.25%
Practically perfect in every way.
Hop Federation - Wizard of Hopz
ABV: 6.8%
A spellbinding West Coast IPA bursting with aromas of dank mango and resinous pine. Juicy
mango sweetness casts the first enchantment before a citrus pith bitterness takes over,
delivering a crisp, clean finish with classic West Coast bite.
Shining Peak - Bravo!
ABV: 6.7%
In 1969, backing the arts in New Plymouth was enough to get you spat on in the street.
Then-president of the Operatic Society, John Murphy, copped some ill-directed spray while
fighting to save the Opera House from demolition. Thankfully, it wasnβt curtains after all, with
Murphyβs efforts helping ensure the Showplace lived on β and continues to host world-class productions to this day. This West Coast IPA celebrates 100 years of the New Plymouth
Operatic Society with a proper ensemble of old-school and modern hops. Pine, citrus and
tropical resin take centre stage atop a lean malt base, creating a brew that hits like a standing
ovation on closing night.
Urbanaut - Time Warp
ABV: 6.3%
Give yourself over to absolute pleasure as this spaced out West Coast IPA beer takes you to
another dimension. A wild and untamed zest greets you upfront, balanced by a sturdy malt bill
and refreshing, clean bitterness on the finish. Prepare the transit beam.
