Kazaguruma is turning Seven 🎂
This is all thanks to our valued customers who have journeyed with us along the way.

As announced in our previous post, we will be offering a special anniversary menu from 5 August.
Featuring premium New Zealand seafoods, this menu is the perfect way to celebrate our 7th anniversary!
It’s a rare opportunity to enjoy such a wide variety of ingredients all at once!
You can also add those special menus to our regular set menus or course menu, so please do share it with your loved ones and enjoy!

To ensure as many of you as possible can enjoy it, we’ll be open for Sunday dinner throughout August on the 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

*Please note that the special menu may sell out depending on ingredients availability.

The menu is still being finalised, and further more dishes will be added later on! Stay tuned.

KAZAGURUMA will soon be celebrating its 7th anniversary!
We have designated August as our ‘Anniversary Month’ and will be open on Sundays!

Kicking off with the WOAP event on the 2nd (tickets are sold out), from the 5th until the end of the month, we will be offering a variety of special August-only dishes alongside our regular menu. And, as mentioned at the start, to allow more of our customers to enjoy these special dishes, we will be open for dinner on Sundays 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th August.
The menu will be announced shortly.

Featured sake of the Month 🍶
JulyーHeiwa Doburoku

Doburoku is a type of sake that can be regarded as the origin of Japanese sake; unlike refined sake, it is bottled without filtering the moromi.
Produced using a very simple method involving only rice and rice koji, this sake is a masterpiece that embodies the very essence of doburoku. The rice used is ‘Nikomaru’, grown in Wakayama Prefecture. This rice is highly popular, characterised by its large, round grains, refreshing sweetness and unique texture.

t is characterised by an aroma reminiscent of steamed rice. With the first sip, you can sense a subtle effervescence resulting from fermentation, and a gentle, fizzy sensation spreads across the palate. This is followed by a delicate sweetness that fills the palate, harmonising with the natural flavour and richness of the rice, allowing you to savour the charm of doburoku at a leisurely pace. With an alcohol content of 9 per cent—which is on the lower side for sake—its light mouthfeel and mellow flavour make it particularly recommended for beginners. For this reason, we have included this product in our ‘Sake introduction’ set.

It pairs well with a variety of dishes, including rich flavours and fried foods. It is sure to open a new door to the world of sake for you.

Visa Wellington On a Plate 2026 event in August, Kazaguruma’s event title is “Pasta Giapponese” 🍝
We are producing a two-course meal featuring pasta dishes in Japanese style perfect for Sunday lunch!

The first dish is a miso-flavored minestrone soup made with seafood and plenty of vegetables. Please enjoy it with a side of baguette.
For your main course, please choose from the pasta menu on the day of your visit.
(Please note that we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions with this course menu. The menu includes garlic, chill, gluten, dairy, and shellfish)

A glass of organic wine from Marlborough is also included 🍷

New Zealand truffle season has begun!

The combination of aburi sushi and truffles is very popular and highly recommended.

It also pairs well with tempura fish seasoned with salt and olive oil. Enjoy it with a truffle-infused dipping sauce.

Featured Sake of the month 🍶

JuneーKozaemon Bizen Omachi

There are over 100 varieties of rice used in sake. The ‘Omachi’ rice used in the sake we are introducing here is the only variety that has been used continuously for over 100 years.

Omachi rice is highly absorbent and dissolves easily, making it ideal for producing rich, full-bodied sake. It is often used to create sake with a plump sweetness and a floral aroma, or sake with a robust umami and a distinct acidity.

This Kozaemon Bizen Omachi is precisely such a full-bodied sake, offering a robust umami flavour. Please enjoy it with meat dishes; it is particularly recommended with our rich A5 Wagyu sukiyaki hotpot!

Tottori Wagyu “Olein 55”

The moment you put high-quality Wagyu beef in your mouth, you’ll experience a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture and a penetrating, authentic meaty flavour.

The secret lies in the abundant, exquisite “oleic acid” it contains. Oleic acid, the main component of olive oil, enhances the flavour of the meat and achieves an astonishing melt-in-your-mouth texture due to its low melting point. (Typical meat fat melting temperatures: Chicken: approx. 30-32°C; Pork: approx. 33-46°C; Beef: approx. 40-50°C; Lamb: approx. 44°C and above)

“Tottori Wagyu Olein 55” is a title given only to Tottori Wagyu beef that meets the strict condition of having an oleic acid content of 55% or more in its fat, and its fat melting point is an astonishing 16°C! You can experience an exceptional melt-in-your-mouth texture even among A5 rank Wagyu beef.

Featured sake of the month🍶
MayーDassai 45 Junmai Daiginjo

“Dassai” is a popular sake that is highly regarded not only in Japan but around the world. The brewery does not aim to produce a sake whose flavour can only be appreciated by connoisseurs, but rather a sake that ‘anyone will find delicious’

The product that made Dassai famous is Dassai 23, made from rice polished down to 23 per cent, but the one we are introducing here is Dassai 45, made from rice polished down to 45 per cent. With its exquisite balance of sweetness, umami and fruity notes derived from the rice, I believe this sake is truly one that anyone who tries it will find ‘delicious’. Furthermore, as it pairs exceptionally well with ‘dashi’—an essential element of Japanese cuisine—we are currently serving it as a pairing with the A5 Wagyu shabu-shabu, the third course of our Kiwami Course menu.

This is a sake we would highly recommend even to those trying sake for the first time. We hope you will take the time to savour its deliciousness alongside our cuisine.

Sunday Ramen Lunch!

We held our first Sunday Ramen Lunch two years ago. Since then, we’ve held the event four times, serving a different ramen each time, and this will be our 5th one!

Thank you for the wonderful response we’ve received every time. As there’s a limit to the number of bowls of ramen we can serve at once and bookings fill up quickly, we realise that many of you have missed out on the chance to visit. So, this time, we’ve decided to hold the Sunday Ramen Lunch for two consecutive weeks for each ramen!

This time, we are offering three different types of ramen. We will be holding the event on the first two Sundays of May, June and July.

As with previous events, we will be offering a two-course menu: first, you can enjoy sushi made with fresh raw seafood, followed by the ramen. Dessert is also available, so we invite you to share a special Sunday lunch experience with your family, friends or loved ones😊
