Our style is a mix of classic and new, with a dash of the unexpected. The holder of One Chef's Hat 2015 and 2016 and Runner-Up in the 'Best New Restaurant' category in the Cuisine NZ Good Food Awards 2015, Jano Bistro prides itself on serving a seasonally inspired menu that showcases the best of local New Zealand produce. Set amongst a beautifully restored historical cottage, diners are encouraged

to explore new flavour combinations and indulge their culinary palate from Jano Tasting or Jano Experience Degustation menus. Our menu changes regularly depicted by the best available produce and the Chef's creativity.

We have just been awarded a MICHELIN Star in the first New Zealand MICHELIN Guide (official) 2026! We are deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition and incredibly proud of our amazing team. This award reflects the individual effort, care, and dedication of each team member who has been an integral part of our journey in building Jano together 🌟

Thank you to our guests, suppliers, producers, and the wider hospitality community who have supported us throughout the years. A very special thank you to family and friends who have backed us from the beginning, and always believed in us - especially through the difficult times. Jano Bistro would not be where it is today without you all🙏

It has been quite the week and we're still trying to let it all sink in to be honest! We are so grateful for the aroha and warm wishes we have received over the past few days - this has made our hearts even fuller ❤️

Also, a big congratulations to all the other restaurants and individuals who have received recognition and awards across all categories. It is a privilege to represent New Zealand on the world stage, and showcase the quality and diverse culinary scene this beautiful country has to offer 🍽🍷🌏🏹
