Fixed-term | Mid-October 2026 – end January 2027 (with a potential option to extend)

Smith’s is looking for an experienced Senior Chef to join our busy Wellington C*D kitchen, covering a team member on leave.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has solid commercial kitchen experience
• Loves working in a fast-paced environment
• Takes pride in great food, consistency and cleanliness
• Is organised & calm under pressure
• Is a great team player
• Can confidently help lead the kitchen during busy services

You’ll be hands-on with prep and service, responsible for your section and helping ensure the kitchen runs smoothly.

⏰ Full-time | Weekend availability required

🥧 Lamb & Kūmara Pies OR Creamy Chicken & Veg — packed full of deliciousness and guaranteed to make Dad happy.

Smith’s is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Chef to join our busy Wellington C*D kitchen.

We’re looking for someone who loves working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in producing great food and is ready to take on some extra responsibility within the team.

In this role, you will:
• Be hands-on with food preparation and service
• Help lead the kitchen team during busy services
• Take responsibility for your section and ensure prep is organised and service runs smoothly
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene
• Help ensure recipes, portion sizes and kitchen procedures are followed
• Step up and take charge when the Sous Chef or Head Chef is unavailable

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has solid commercial kitchen experience
• Is confident working independently and as part of a team
• Has excellent organisation and communication skills
• Leads by example and enjoys helping others develop
• Can stay calm, positive and focused during busy services
• Takes pride in consistency, cleanliness and great food
