Since closing we have often had locals tell us they miss our food. We have been working on putting together recipes for the most popular treats we sold at the bakery. Wainui Cake Kitchen was a traditional scratch bakery located in the Wainuiomata Mall. Now closed but sharing our much loved recipes to continue on the historical food we made for our community.

This is for all of you guys who are getting into home baking during this lock down

BROWNIE

Flour 180g
Cocoa 45g
Sugar 318g
Salt 8g
Baking power 8g
Baking Soda 3g
Butter. 100g
Milk. 144g

Egg 3 eggs

Mix all of group 1 together
Then add eggs
Poor into a grease tin (about 23cm)
Even nicer with chocolate chips added in
Bake for about 25-30min at 190*

After a lot of thought the Wainui Cake Kitchen will not re-open after the mall completes its removal of asbestos . Due to the lack of access to the bakery for the public and ourselves we cannot survive through the current long periods of mandatory shut down, including those that Progressive have planned for the future. We would like to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us over the many years.
