What can we say but sorry we couldn’t make it work. So many wonderful people over the last 2 1/2 years and I think you all dropped in on the weekend that we were running out of just about everything.

Thank you all for the memories, the hugs and cards.

Thank you to Armand and Gerry for the beautiful music yesterday (and impromptu from Lance), was just the greatest day to say goodbye.

To my staff, my awesome staff, so sorry, you have been amazing.

Thank you to Monika Lange and her team that do so much for Thames Via Facebook (the council should pay you for all you do).

Thank you to Adrian, Rob and the members of the community board, again do so much unseen.

To my neighbours in Grahamstown, hope you all do well and hang in there during the storm that is coming.

To everyone else, support your local as best you can, it’s tough, getting tougher and they will need your help during this current crisis (when will they end huh).

For all of you out there with vouchers, please make contact, we will operate the sims for the next 14 days only. We will see you right, just reach out.

And lastly…….. anyone want to buy a deck 🙂. It’s a nice big deck.

Free ginger nuts with every coffee this weekend. Come in and grab one.

Unfortunately, we are left with no choice but to eject and close the doors at The Aviator in Thames.
This Sunday the 29th of March 2026 will be our last day open for food and beverage. The fuel crisis is the last nail in the coffin (and the nail keeps getting hit hard) for us after giving it another go for the last 2 1/2 years in Thames.
We have met some wonderful people, some interesting people and well, this is Thames so some other people too.
Personally I'd like to thank my staff who gave it everything to stay above water but it is just relentless isn't it. And all of us want to thank all of you for your custom and friendships.
So we want to ask you for a couple of favours.
1. Support your local stores, make an effort to still go out. They will need your support more than ever otherwise more will vanish into the night.
2. Come see us over the next 4 days and help us empty our fridges, freezers, grind some coffee beans and eat some jet planes!
3. And finally, don't worry if you have gift vouchers, we will see you right so touch base, talk to us. We will honour them or refund them in due course.
Thank you and Eject Eject Eject!

Due to massive pressure from regulars, our Curly Fries, Loaded Wedges (and loaded fries) are permanently back from this weekend.

And the Mighty Rueben Sandwich from next week also.

Roll on winter and hearty food choices.

Bring a mate, bring a family member. You can scenic flight, work together as a team or dogfight each other, the choice is yours.
Or you can be selfish and use two vouchers for yourself :)

Welcome to our new page. What happenned to the old one??? Echo, Piper and Gilbert took it over with over 27,000 followers that we had no choice but to rename that one and start a fresh. It's all good too, we have just completed a restructure and we are tweaking the business to get it ready for sale. Yep, it will be for sale in the near future and some loving family will want to build on what we have created. So welcome to The Aviator Thames, where everyone can be a fighter pilot (did you sing that like the warehouse ad)?
