I know what youโre thinking, itโs a restaurant, why would you even lay carpet in the first place!?
๐๐ฐ๐ฑ ๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ข๐จ๐ช๐ค ๐ฃ๐ถ๐ด, ๐ธ๐ฆโ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ข ๐ฉ๐ช๐ด๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐บ ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด๐ฐ๐ฏโฆ ๐ ๐จ
Once upon a time two young adults whose only experience in hospitality was fast food, decided to yolo on a restaurantโฆ ๐ซช๐๐ผ
Perhaps they were a little too optimistic, because the first few years were quite the learning curve.
During their third Summer, something strange happened at the restaurant. The floor downstairs, which was a nostalgic terracotta tile, turned into a bouncy castle. ๐ฐ
It appeared the glue had given up, which caused the tiles to lift, yet still remain grouted together. Imagine the tiles moving like a wave as you walkedโฆ ๐ (Not ideal when youโre carrying food btw!)
The ones closest to the door decided theyโd had enough being part of the great tile wave, and smashed themselves to pieces.
One of the owners, a self proclaimed builder, electrician, plumber, mechanic and anything else you can possibly think of, looked at the floor and decided โ๐ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ ๐ค๐ข๐ฏ ๐ต๐ช๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฐโ.
Well, turns out confidence and a can do attitude gets you pretty far, because he did in fact tile the entrance. (See the โbeautifulโ black tiles in the photo below. Just donโt look too closelyโฆ ๐คก)
The owners both knew it was a short term bandaid, but had no money to fix, so they rode out the tile wave until the end of Summer while looking for a solution.
That solution? ๐พ๐๐ง๐ฅ๐๐ฉ.
It was quick to install and all they could afford. In fact, they couldnโt even afford the installers to remove the tiles. One night after close, they stayed in the restaurant until 4am lifting tile, after tile, after tile, until they were all removedโฆ ๐ซฉ
The next day, the carpet was installed.
โฆAnd that, our lovely customers, is why we have had carpet the last 10 years! ๐คฃ
