You may have been served in our Pikopiko Restaurant by our lovely Olivia.
This year Olivia has been named as a finalist in the Volunteering Hawkes Bay Youth Changemaker Awards.

Olivia was nominated by her school - Napier Girls High School, and here's what they had to say:

"Olivia is an outstanding young person whose commitment to volunteering stretches across both our kura and the wider community.

As one of our Deputy Head Prefects, Olivia has been instrumental in establishing a Junior Student Council. Through this initiative, she has fostered a sense of belonging and whanaungatanga, building vital pathways for engagement between our senior leaders and younger students.

In her role as Secretary of the NGHS Interact Club in 2025, Olivia led a bike drive. She coordinated the collection of unwanted bikes and scooters from NGHS students. Olivia partnered with the local Men’s Shed to ensure all equipment was serviced and safe and organized a school-wide sausage sizzle to raise funds for new helmets. The bikes & scooters along with the helmets were donated to Marewa School.

In March of this year, Olivia travelled to Fiji for a volunteer teaching placement. When a cyclone struck, she adapted her plans to run youth activities for displaced families Olivia is also involved in a conservation planting programme at Waipatiki Beach.

Olivia is an exemplary role model for her peers. A young person who consistently seeks opportunities to serve, embodying our school values of Whanangatanga, Manaakitanga and Kairangi Whaiaro."
