Good morning everyone

I really need yo do some posts, but I'm a bit pushed for time, but here's a quick Charlie update that I know you will appreciate.

He's feeling soooo much better and is well and truly taking over like he owns the place. Its so nice to see him playing like a kitten, but its 2 & 1/2 weeks on from when we brought him home and our older girls are still trying to adjust to this little ball of energy, but they're slowly getting there.
We still can't just pick him up, that takes a little coaxing but he is gaining confidence.
Take a minute and watch the video and see for yourself how well hes doing.

Note...for those who have asked what happenedto .the little kitten that turned up has now found a loving foster family 😻

Have a great day everyone 😊❤️

Good afternoon everyone
I thought you might like a quick Charlie update to start your long weekend off on a positive note.

We had to take him back to the vets yesterday as he still has congestion in his nose. More anti inflammatory drops and antibiotics for him and hes already feeling better today.
We're slowly making good progress with him as you can see in the video....however, he can be like this one minute, then panicking and darting off the next. Hopefully its not to long and he will feel totally at ease with us, and also Im pleased to say, our girls Boo And Lucy are slowly accepting him.

All in all Im sure he will be thankful he is now living the life he is instead of scavenging for food and living it rough out in the cold.
I hope this has started your long weekend with a smile...have a great one everyone 😊😻

Good morning everyone

I think its fair to say that like most of the country, I was very saddened to hear the news of the passing of Dame Jools Topp.
Im so lucky to say I had the pleasure of meeting both she and Dame Lynda several years back, when they stopped in for a Cream Horn. Absolutely without a doubt, two of the funniest, loviest, everyday people I could have wished to meet.
Lynda popped in a couple of more times and our conversations flowed as if we had known each other for years. On her last visit around 18 months ago she was on her way to visit Jools, she talked to me openly about how both she and Jools were coping on their cancer journey and as you would expect, although not the nicest of things to discuss, it was certainly evident that no matter how much it was affecting both their lives, they weren't going to let it beat them.

Watching Lynda on Seven Sharp last night was the most heartbreaking thing I have seen in a long time. The love and the loss of her twin sister , her double , her right arm, her everything... was so very sad to see.

I am so thankful that I had the absolute privilege of meeting two of New Zealands true icons who showed us all what it is to be Kiwi.

Sending Lynda the biggest hug from me 🫂💔

Good evening everyone

It was a little bit of a sad day today and end of an era for us.
The lovely Mel who brings Harlen out for his visits is leaving her job.
She has been bringing Harlen to visit every fortnight for over 11 years.
We first got to meet Mel when we were in our little shop down the road.
I personally have formed a friendship with Mel and I am going to miss our catch ups terribly.
She is unsure of whats next, but we wish her well on whatever road she takes.
Although Harlen will still visit with his new career, it will feel a little bit different.
Harlen and the many others Mel cares for have been very lucky to have her.
Im not lying when I say Mel went above and beyond in all she did, and it has been far more than "just a job" for her.
Her true love of her clients and the volunteers she worked with shone through and I know she will be deeply missed, but its time for her to take a break.

Mel....it goes without saying how much we are going to miss you visiting with Harlen, but its time for you to do what you need to.
Please feel free to join me in wishing Mel all the very best and thank her for our lovely Harlen memories ❤️

Good morning ebryones

Yes its me...Charlie.....just look at me now 😸
Mum said I had to say thank you to you alls for your kind wishes and prayers for me to gets better.
They obviously works, because look at me now.
Just 1 week ago my new mum caught me. Then she and my new dad took me to this big scary medicine place and every mornings since then, mum puts this hard thing in my mouth and this funny tastings stuff comes out. Mum hates doing it but she says it makes me better and I believes her cause I really does feel better and my mum would never do anything to hurts me.

Just over one week ago, I was living under buildings, scavenging for food, cold and lonely, but I'm now living the bestest life.
Im clamping in my own fancy tent fing, but.....all day, I'm free to roam around this big place mum & dad call a lounge. I'm so lovely and warm, I get all the yummy foods and drink I want and Im loved.
I have two new sisters...Boo and Lucy. I want to play with them all the times, but they're still not sures about me moving in.
It looks like I'ves twisted them ALL around my little paw though, cause Ive heards them say.....looks like I'm here to stay.

But then again...I also heard mum sayings that ..." I needed to learn what it was to play like a kitten "
So I did. (Who am I to not do what mum tells me).....BUT.. now I am...I
I jump up where I shouldn't be, I sharpen my claws on the big comfy fing, maje lots of noise with my toys and I chase my sisters when they want to be left alone.
So now, sometimes I hear mum says if I don't be good I'll be frees to a good home 😸 but im sures shes only tricking.
Anyways Im off to annoy Boo & Lucy.
But we all want to thank you again for alls the good wishes and prayers....
Oh and mum said....just like she told KitKat, I must remembers to wish you all a very happy day 😻bye for now everyone

Good morning everyone

Well its a lovely post to start your day.
After some medication, food, warmth, cuddles and encouragement little Charlie is coming along in leaps and bounds.
He's still very nervous when you try to approach him and he pulls away, but once Ive picked him up, the purrs and the nose nudging starts and for the first time in his life he's learning what it is to be a kitten.
Our two girls haven't yet accepted him fully, but thats also improving each day.
As you can by the videos little Charlie is fast becoming Lord of the Manor 😻
I would just like to take the time to acknowledge two very special organisations ....Alice from Kitty Kingdom Wellington and the team from Manawatu Alley Cats Trust. Their advice and help with Charlie has been invaluable, and thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement.
Im off now for some cat snuggles before I head to work, so hope this post has started your day off purrrrfectly and keep an eye out for more Charlie updates.
Have a great day everyone 😻😊

Good morning everyone

A quick Charlie update
But firstly thank you all again for the hundreds of comments on my last two posts. Its beautiful to see that one little kitty can melt so many hearts, and although I haven't reacted or answer any, I have..... (as always), read each and every one.

Now to Charlie.....
Poor wee Charlie is not a well boy and is at home with us, not at the cafe.
We took him back to the vets yesterday and hes now on anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. He hasn't eaten much and hes a lost litte soul trying to understand this new found life of living in an enclosed space after running free and being fed good food after only knowing how to fend for himself.
Like all of you, when Charlie showed up, I instantly thought yahoo another KitKat to show and share stories about their adventures, but Im not sure thats going to be with Charlie.
Maybe when he gets well, he may come to the cafe, but at this point in time, hes safe, warm, fed.
Not only has this been a shock for Charlie, our two furgirls at home are trying to deal with the new addition that has invaded their space.
The last thing either Kevan or I and our two cats were looking for or wanting was another furbaby but how could you turn your back on a little kitty who needed saving.

I will keep you updated on his progress and while we may not get the same enjoyment from watching Charlie's adventures as we did from KitKat, its still lovely to know KitKat knew which direction to send him in.
Thank you everyone for caring and have a great day. 😽

Oh and one more thing...
Yes im still getting the snuggles, the purrs, and the nose nudges.....pure love ❤️

Good afternoon everyone

FIRSTLY I want to thank you all so very much for the beautiful comments on my last post. As you know I like to react to them all, but this time around it was impossible for me to do so, with nearly 500 comments 😲 but please know I read every single one and each and every one was so heart felt, they blew us away.

Now..... I don't want to start bombarding you with Charlie posts, but I just know I need to share this...I think it will make the hardest of hearts melt.
After only one day since catching him, this is what I got from him this morning, it was absolutely beautiful. I think we've all very quickly fallen in love with this little chap and also when I get a minute I will let you know a special little story about Charlie's possible relationship to KitKat 😊

So with that said, I will leave you to watch this beautiful moment , some of you might like to grab your tissues 😻 Enjoy the rest of your day everyone 💙
