National wants to make it easier to sell off and privatise up to 60% of public conservation land across Aotearoa NZ. Once itโ€™s sold, it may no longer be accessible to the public.

As MP for Nelson Iโ€™ve heard the outrage from people in our region about this proposal, especially given how much conservation land we have in Nelson Tasman, including our national parks!!!

Louve and Marika came to see me at the Nelson Market yesterday because they are organising a march to protest the Conservation Amendment Bill on Saturday 27 June, meeting at 1pm at Selwyn Place. The march will then head to Queenโ€™s Gardens. Please come to the protest to show the Government that our conservation land is not for sale!

Please also submit to the Environment Select Committee before 2 July and tell National to keep their hands off public conservation land. Also tell them to keep DOCโ€™s purpose as is and not bring in an explicit focus on economic opportunity on all conservation land (including national parks)!
