When we opened Tala, we went all in on being uniquely SPECIFIC 🇼🇸 instead of generically PACIFIC🏝️. This week I was gently reminded of how important it is that we stay rooted specifically in our Samoan identity by someone I truly admire, respect and trust.
We don’t claim to represent the entire, diverse Pacific, nor do we have all the answers. We are simply a team trying to honor our heritage, our families, and the culinary traditions passed down to us. Trying to blend into a generic mold doesn’t do justice to the distinct beauty of Samoa or to the unique traditions of our beautiful neighbouring islands.
I’m incredibly grateful for the patience and support of our community as we navigate this journey, learning every day how to best share our Samoan roots. 🇼🇸❤️

Huge congratulations to every single restaurant that made it into Australia’s first-ever MICHELIN Guide (official) MICHELIN Guide in Adelaide. You’ve officially put our incredible food scene on the global stage! 🍽️🏆
A massive special thanks to ejsdeleon Ej, Alex Lam Cheung Alex for carrying the Samoan 🇼🇸 team and also the entire team at the Adelaide Convention Centre Adelaide Convention Centre for pulling off such a flawless, historic event.
And a heartfelt thank you to the MICHELIN Guide (official) MICHELIN Guide for giving a global platform to Samoan cuisine. Seeing restaurant Tala Tala cooking side by side with the world’s best on this monumental night is something we will never forget. 🇼🇸❤️ Culture, heritage, and world class culinary art all in one room.
