It's Negroni Week! So, we give you four negronis - available on their own, or as a fancy AF tasting tray!
$22 for a full Negroni, $12 for a half (cos you are responsible), or $44 for a tasting tray with all four options as half pours.
White Negroni:
Tanqueray Gin with Cocchi Americano and Suze
This is floral with a gentle bitterness, a more delicate version than the classic.
Classic Negroni:
Using Brew Unions own gin alongside Campari and Carpano Antica.
Balanced, bitter, built to last - the reason the Negroni endures.
Boulevardier:
Buffalo Trace Bourbon with Campari and Cocchi di Torino.
Bourbon subs in for the gin creating a richer, rounder beverage, but still balanced and anchored by the bitter backbone.
Coffee Negroni:
Beefeater Gin, Cold Brew, Campari and Punt e Mes
The cold brew pulls this version into a darker and more complex territory and then Punt e Mes amplifies it. This is still a Negroni - maybe just one that's had a long day like Camillo.
So, as you may know, the story goes that the Negroni was created around 1920 when Count Camillo Negroni decided his Americano cocktail didn't have enough punch, so he asked the bartender to use Gin, instead of Soda water when making it. So 'ol mate Camillo's pick me up to fix his bad day, ended up delivering what is one of the finest cocktails in existence, using three ingredients in equal parts. Gin, Campari, and Vermouth. In our opinion the Campari stays as the constant, and then you play with the other two, and over the last 100 years this drink has spun off into so many fine variations.
*Finally an honorable mention to MY favorite which subs the Gin for a peated whiskey - Arbdeg being perfect IMO for its flavour profile against the other components, plus we have Arbeg behind the bar - but no one cares about little old me (cries into a Coffee Negroni).
Oh, and drink responsibly, otherwise the facebook gods tell us off and block our posts 😔
