We’re excited to be taking part in this September’s Battle of the Burgers and the timing couldn’t be more perfect, because September is also Sea Lion Awareness Month.

Introducing our Battle of the Burgers creation:

“SALUTE THE SEA LION”

Inspired by one of the most magnificent and much loved residents of our wild Catlins coastline, this is a burger with a distinctly memorable flavour.

🐟 Battered Blue Cod
🥬 Apple, fennel & red cabbage slaw
🌿 Our house made watercress pesto
🥕 House made pickled vegetables
🍞 All tucked into a toasted brioche bun and topped with crispy squid rings !

And introducing your sides…

🍠 Kumara fries seasoned with kelp salt,
🌊 Lemon & sea lettuce flake tartare dipping sauce.

Our Salute the Sea Lion creation is about more than creating a great burger.

The New Zealand Sea Lion Trust does wonderful work supporting the protection and welfare of New Zealand sea lions.

In honour of this , for every “Salute the Sea Lion”burger sold, we will donate $3 to The New Zealand Sea Lion Trust.

Whilst you enjoy your burger, you can discover a little more about the animal that inspired it. Every burger comes with its own Sea Lion Story Card, sharing the remarkable story of the New Zealand sea lion and its return to the Catlins coast.

So, this September, come and join the Battle of the Burgers, enjoy a taste of the Catlins, and help us Salute the Sea Lion! 🦭
