Origin Coffee is a coffee company that operates out of a functioning historic railway station in Otorohanga New Zealand. We offer specialty coffee from our espresso bar while also shipping our ground coffee and roasted beans throughout New Zealand to cafes, companies and mail order clients. Come in and check out our guided tours that show coffee production from "Plant to cup", and grab a free cup of coffee to accompany the tour. We have roasted Kopi Luwak - the worlds most expensive coffee bean, as part of a promotion in Hamilton. Kopi Luwak is a bean made famous by the movie "The Bucket List" starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, and is made from the beans of coffee berries that have been eaten and passed through the gut of the Asian Palm Civet, more commonly known as the Toddy Cat. When passed the aromatic beans are collected, washed, sun-dried, then lightly roasted. After roasting, the beans 'de-gas' over one or two days before grinding, brewing and tasting.
