🖤 In Loving Memory of Allan (Gerk) Gerken 🖤

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our previous owner and dear friend, Allan Leslie (Gerk) Gerken, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 23 September, aged 70, after a long and courageous battle.

Allan was much more than a previous owner of the Otautau Hotel — he was a valued part of our community and a dear friend to many of us. His presence, humour, stories and friendship will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Sandra, his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you, Allan, for the memories, the laughs and the friendship. You will always be remembered and will forever have a special place in the Otautau Hotel family. ❤️

Rest easy, Gerk. You fought so hard. 🕊️

The service celebrating Allan’s life will be held at Ascot Park Hotel, Invercargill, on Monday, 28 September at 1:00pm, followed by a convoy to Otautau Cemetery. A livestream is also available.
