There are lots of average things happening at the moment! So to perk us all up we are having Burger Night at The Public Office tonight - Thursday 26th March.

So many delicious offerings, Ben’s burger that won the burger competition, our entry Surf Meats Turf, a delicious fried chicken number and Simon has given in and brought our famous BRISKET BURGER back for 1 night! All burgers with fried and aioli are only $23!

Our Term 1 Burger Competition winner has been crowned. After weeks of careful planning and preparation the Year 9 HPC hospitality students completed their burgers.

Ben was crowned the winner with his Almighty Lamb Baager.
- A grilled lamb pattie, smoky bacon, roasted mushrooms and a delicious mint sauce relish in a toasted brioche bun.

This role is perfect for someone who is an organising extraordinaire, loves great customer service, and enjoys working in a fast-paced café and catering environment. You’ll be someone who feels comfortable in a customer-facing role, takes pride in creating a great experience for people, and enjoys being part of a supportive team.

At The Public Office we take pride in what we do – from the café floor to our catering events – and we’re looking for someone who enjoys working alongside a great team to help keep things running smoothly.

We’re looking for a brand new Kitchen Assistant to join our team!

Part-time hours:
9.00am–2.30pm (Mon-Fri) approx. 1-2 days per week, with the option for additional hours as we get busier.

Experience isn’t necessary — we’re happy to train the right person. What matters most is a good attitude, willingness to learn, and being a great team player.

You’ll be helping with basic food prep, keeping the kitchen clean and organised, and supporting our chefs during service.

If you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen, take pride in doing things well, and want to be part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.

Just a little update from us — our new opening hours for the next few weeks are Monday to Friday during the day, and we’ll also be open for dinner Wednesday to Friday.

We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. We’ve got some big catering events coming up and want to make sure we can give everything the time and attention it deserves. It’s important to us that we keep delivering the high standard you know and expect from us.

Thanks so much for your understanding and ongoing support. We appreciate it more than you know and can’t wait to see you in during the week — whether that’s for a daytime coffee or a midweek dinner and don't forget our famous Happy Hour on Fridays 3-6pm.

Our Christmas and New Year opening hours are listed above, so come and see us before we take a break from the 31st December. We will be popping up with a food trailer in Pauanui during the break so keep an eye out for those updates to get your burger and bao bun fix!
