"Why are you closed Sundays and Mondays?" A question we often hear from our customers.

Here's our 3-part answer:
Darzy, Aidren, and Ryder. 😅

We love Food Trip, but we love these kids more. We're consciously choosing to build a life where we actually get to see them grow (even if one of them grew way too fast 😅).

They are the reason why we wake up early, and they are also the reason why we are absolutely exhausted to the point of collapse by night. 😂

Sure, we could always use more money. But money can't buy back time, so we’re spending some of ours with them. 🫶

Which brings us to the actual reason for this post: We just want to give a massive shout-out to Hobbiton for the awesome locals' tour! We finally got out of the kitchen and into the Shire, and we highly recommend it. Hahaha! 🍻✨

Some bunny turned one! 🐰✨ A very happy 1st birthday to sweet baby Eliyanah!

It was an absolute pleasure catering this adorable celebration. We completely fell in love with Whakatāne and the incredibly warm, welcoming community there.

Thank you once again Archie and Elena for having us cater your daughter's memorable milestone.

Hey guys! ❄️ Quick heads-up: we’re catering a magical "Winter Onederland" 1st birthday party in Tauranga.

Because we will be busy bringing this snowy party to life, the restaurant will be CLOSED tomorrow (Saturday, August 1st).

We’re going to miss you this weekend, but we'll be back at it and open again on Tuesday, August 4th.

We just turned SEVEN years old! 🎉🪅🎊

Looking back at these snapshots from the very beginning, we are reminded of how this all started. Almost everything in our shop back then was from our home, gifted, and op-shopped. Most of the people who came to help was paid with sisig. 🤣

To put it simply, we had an incredible village backing us up, and we wouldn’t be here without you all.

Food Trip started from a place of pure family love. We are so incredibly happy to say that this exact same love is what keeps us moving forward every single day.

When we opened, we had nothing but courage and faith that God would carry us through—and He has been so faithful. They say "if it’s God’s will, it’s God’s bill," and our journey is living proof of that. It is nothing short of a miracle that we are still here today, serving you the very same recipes we learned from our mums, aunties, and a bit of YouTube university! 😅

To the very first people who supported us and believed in our dream (mostly Darwin's dream 😂) of having a Filipino restaurant right here in Matamata: Maraming maraming salamat po!
