🏑🏑🏑An update from Mike from Dalefield HC on the Farriers Dalefield P1 Men’s hockey team.🏑🏑🏑
WOW !! What a whirlwind week and a bit it has been.
With a couple of previous rain deferrals, the playing schedule became very restricted for the Farriers Dalefield P1 Men’s hockey team.
Four (4) games in eight (8) days = July 18 , 21 , 25 , 26 ….. for 3 fantastic wins and a gritty draw.
It was a real bonus to be able to play these games at HOME in front of family & sponsors.
Squeezed in the midst of all that was the Wai Times-Age Sports awards - a great Wednesday evening.
Finalists Reese Robertson + Katherine Reisima, Benedict van Woerkom and DHC itself - very proud.
Congratulations to the NHC Men for taking out Team of the Year, to Pete Sigvertsen for Official of the Year, to Becks Schofield (Board member) for Administrator of the Year and to Dane for Senior Sportsman of the Year AND the Supreme Award.
Hockey was to the forefront, for sure.
We hope that you managed to see the full-page advertorial in the Times-Age to acknowledge our Sponsors.
And those sponsors who made it down to Clareville on Saturday for our Sponsor’s Day enjoyed some lovely nibbles & drinks.
Amidst all of that we have Myles Houlahan away in the Netherlands with the NZ 35+ at the Masters World Cup.
And Dane Lett about to pack his bags for Europe (Belgium & The Netherlands) for the FIH World Cup.
We wish them both all the very best.
These recent results place Dalefield 2nd on the points table with one Round to play {away at NHS in Wgtn vs Northern United on Aug 1} If the Indians win (by not too much, no bonus point) and Dalefield earn a bonus point, the team could finish top of the table, on goal difference. But there is an “if” at the beginning of that sentence.
We shall know after this coming weekend’s final round of games.
THANK YOU so very much for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Mike van Woerkom
