After many wonderful years serving our community, The Corner Stone Cafe has officially closed its doors.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every customer, friend, family member, and supporter who walked through our doors, shared a meal, enjoyed a coffee, or simply stopped by for a chat. Your loyalty, kindness, and support have meant the world to us throughout the years.

The memories we've made together will always hold a special place in our hearts. We are incredibly grateful to have been part of this community and to have shared so many special moments with you all.

While the cafe has now closed, we'd like to let everyone know that the lovely ladies at The Style Shop, located on-site, will continue trading until the end of July. We encourage you to stop in and support them over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your patronage, your friendship, and for being part of The Corner Stone Cafe's journey.

With sincere gratitude

The Corner Stone Cafe Team

Hello again, 2 posts in such a short time...unheard of.
Saddly our power went out...again! This time it was not planned and just annoying ...for all of us.
So sorry...again

02/03/2026

Hi everyone, we will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd of March.
We have yet another planned power outage, this time the power company are replacing crossarms.
Sorry to everyone for any inconvenience, we'll be back on Wednesday 4th of March, complete with shiny new cross arms!

Hello Everyone.
There is a road closure on highway 25 about 1 km past the cafe towards Waitakaruru where they are doing maintenance on and around the little bridge.
Traffic can still get through and come to us...so, if you are on your way here, don't let the road cones put you off, just tell the workers on guard (to stop any traffic going towards the bridge) that you are coming here, and they'll wave you on in.
We're feeling a bit lonely at the moment, so come on down!

Call now to connect with business.

A big congratulations to Te Kauwhata's own Pepler's Black Raspberry Vinaigrette which has won 3 stars from the International Taste Institute in Belgium 2025, where a panel of Michelin starred Chefs gave it a Superior Taste award, putting it along side the world's most exceptional food products.
Amazing!!

Latest Forkin’ Good Podcast is up.

We hit Romulus & Remus in Grey Lynn, Auckland for the lasagne everyone raves about… and yep, it absolutely delivers.

Plus an Istanbul yoghurt gin cocktail, blue cod cured in rock salt, and a proper yarn with restaurateur Clare and Chef Tugay about what great hospitality actually looks like.

Have a listen (or watch) and tell me, what makes a restaurant great for you, food or service?

It's the capitalists who give you a job

Luxon thinking he’s the only person who has ever returned to work in the first week of January tells you everything you need to know about Luxon.

He is so out of touch.

I worked Christmas Day for probably ten years in a row. Often on the 5am shift too.

For many of us - the only days off we ever got were stat days.

This fantasy that the country shuts down is only one in the minds of those people who don’t see working class people.

People like Luxon don’t see who is serving them their flat whites and mimosas, who is stitching up their foot after they go jet skiing after their mimosas, who is cleaning up after them endlessly, who is at the store being yelled at during Boxing Day sales, who is selling them their meat for the BBQ, who is working at the petrol station, who is looking after their family who they don’t visit in the rest home, who is delivering meals and taking calls and trying to find mental health support for those struggling alone over Christmas…

Many, many people do not get a break over Christmas. They should be recognised not ignored.

Our richest people don’t see them and want everyone to work over Christmas because they don’t live in the real world.

When you’re earning $500,000 a year - yeah you should go back to work on the 4th. Your nanny worked over the whole summer so you can go back after two weeks - you don’t deserve a medal.

But the rest of the country is not you! Some of us with kids actually like them and want to be around them!

We need more time off work. Not less. We don’t live to work because we have lives. Most NZers are exhausted by the end of the calendar year (or at the start tbf). Leave is essential.

Don’t let these capitalist piggies make you think otherwise.

TODAY (MONDAY 4TH AUGUST)
WE ARE CLOSED.
Good Morning everyone, I'm afraid we have a planned power outage today and are unable to open. Hopefully PowerCo will get their new transformer installed and we will be back with bells on tomorrow. So sorry about the inconvenience. Phillippa.

We are closed today due to a Coromandel transformer issue at Kopu this morning at 8.45am.
Unfortunately after we had packed everything away and gone home it came back on!
Transpower had no information for me when I rang soon after the cut happened, so, rather than sit around in the dark, we went home.
Apologies to all who had wanted to stop in today, but we'll be back tomorrow with lights and coffee, and hot food and even toilets!
