I’m so lucky to have amazing customers who will brave 9 degrees, gale force winds and Petone Beach looking like a surf beach to come in for their first ice cream of the season. Thanks Team! Looking forward to a long summer that is not like today!

If you’re looking for something fun to do tonight Alexandra Ranford is performing a free concert at the gallery 7-8.30pm as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival and I will be open for your after-dinner treat. The fabulous Lower Hutt Art Trail is also on this weekend and the gallery will be buzzing with 6 wonderful artists working out of Artspace Gallery all weekend. Looking forward to seeing you again. It’s not much of an ice cream day but I’m as excited as my little friend here to be opening for the season from today! Look forward to seeing you all sometime over the weekend.

It’s fair to say that I became quite attached to my Little Jem during my first trading season! I had many attempts at closing for the season and kept finding a reason to open. Then on Sunday I ran out of ice cream, frozen yoghurt and fruit so I took that as a sign it was time! My last customer was a well known Hutt Valley ex politician and I was terrified he was going to order 2 ice creams when I only had enough for one. Luckily he was travelling solo. After scraping the box there was just enough ice cream and strawberry left for a small ice cream for me. What better way to toast the completion of my first fun season. I know I keep saying I’m closed for the season and I sort of am but …. today is the opening of a beautiful exhibition by fabulous Wellington artist Kit Ong. Alfred thought real fruit ice cream combined with some chill live music by Don Franks and Alfred on sax would be a great combination to enjoy viewing this beautiful exhibition. So for today only I am open again (until I run out of ice cream, yoghurt or fruit!). We would love to see you at Artspace Gallery 223 The Esplanade from 1-4pm today.
