Meet the grower behind the yuzu 🍋🌿

For our WOAP burger, we’re using locally grown yuzu which we preserve and put through our house-made salsa verde. Bright, citrusy and full of flavour, it cuts through the richness of the burger and brings everything together.
So we went behind the scenes with Neville to spread the word (of mouth) about NZ Yuzu’s story and learn about the zesty fruit that makes its way into our burger.

Because knowing where your food comes from makes it taste even better. 🌱🍔

IT’S TIME. Burger Welly starts today, which means from 10:30 you can come and get ‘A Little Bit Cheeky’.

Built with a smashed beef patty, slow-cooked beef cheek, smoked provolone, umami potato crispies, butterhead lettuce, pickled red onion, and our house-made preserved yuzu salsa verde, all served in a Brezelmania sesame brioche bun with fries.

Prefer vegetarian? We’ll swap the slow-cooked beef cheek for slow-cooked mushrooms.

Available from 3–23 August.

• Gluten-free possible
• Nut-free

If you know to ask, we’ll add our off-menu spicy customisations to your burger. You won’t find them printed anywhere—they’re only being shared through our socials and by word of mouth.

Celebrating FIVE years of Twenty Eight, which means five years of getting to love and serve this community. Thank you, Lower Hutt (and beyond!) for letting us be your local coffee shop/brunch spot/burger joint/play place for your kids etc… We are so grateful we get to do this and so stoked you keep coming!

Here’s a throwback picture to the 2nd August, 2020. The day we ‘soft-opened’ in a pandemic with no dining area, no kitchen food, just our signature scones and great coffee.

Thank you again and we look forward to many more years of being your local 🫶

For our A Little Bit Cheeky WOAP burger, we’re using beautiful butter crunch lettuce from the local legends at Waikawa Fresh. So we’ve brought you behind the scenes to meet the people growing it, and spread the word (of mouth) about their business.
