Before modern freezers and refrigerators, a primary way to preserve whitebait was a canning method.
Woods Whitebait Cannery was a serious name on the westcoast and exported bait to Australia right into the 20th century.

It’s great to know times have now changed and Kumara is about to celebrate 150 years! and with that you can enjoy whitebait fresh and straight from the river to your plate ❤️

If you’re looking for a fresh taste of westcoast whitebait, then look no further because we have you covered🤤

We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces ☺️

Whoohoo, long awaited and it’s finally here 🤩it doesn’t get any fresher or local than whitebait!

Locally caught whitebait on our local river, enjoy either a freshly cooked whitebait sandwich served on a rustic white bread or as a patty and a side salad….either way, you definitely need a wedge of lemon to top it off 🤤

We look forward to seeing all of your smiling ☺️
