🛠️ RENOVATION UPDATE! 🛠️

Things are moving fast at the Hokitika Squash Club, and the place is really starting to transform!

Here is a quick look at what’s been happening behind the scenes this week:

Court 1: has been thoroughly cleaned and is ready for sealing and paint as soon as it arrives! The floor also had a quick sand, its come up like new.

The Banister: Looking fantastic with a fresh coat of paint! 🖌️ Plus a new top board.

Club Rooms: The interior is really taking shape thanks to Terence from TA Painting, who kicked off work last week. A big shoutout for the great work!

⚠️ Facility Status & Reopening Info:

The club remains closed for now while renovations continue. We hope to welcome everyone back on Monday the 5th! 🤞

Please note: Court 1 will remain closed for at least another fortnight while we finish sealing and painting the walls/ceiling.

The countdown is officially on until we reopen—we can’t wait to see you all back on the court! 🙌

Shoutout to Greymouth Squash Club for a massive 21-week Interclub season! 👏

Huge congratulations to Boddytown Tyres on taking out the title 🏆... but let’s talk about the real prize of the night.

Huge congrats to our Ezy Kitchens team for securing Hokitika’s most prestigious new piece of kitchenware: THE WOODEN SPOON! 🥄🔥

21 weeks of sweat, close calls, questionable drop shots, and tactical "chokes"—all to make sure Ezy Kitchens lived up to their name and brought home something useful for the kitchen 🍳😂

Massive thanks to Greymouth for hosting, all the sponsors, and everyone who played. Rest those lungs and legs—we'll be back next season! 💥

Huge progress at Hokitika Squash Club this week! 🔨✨

The grinding works are officially wrapped up, and we’re moving straight into the next stage:

Floor Sanding: Currently underway to get the court surface ready!

Upgraded Viewing Area: Upgrades to the banister upstairs are currently underway.

Fresh Paint: Professional painters are onsite this week updating the interior!

Get your popcorn ready 🍿—there are going to be some epic before-and-after photos heading your way soon (we promise the dust was worth it)! 📸👀

Things are coming together fast—stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to completion! 🙌

Squash Club Temporary Closure! 🛠️🎨⚡

The Hokitika Squash Club will be closed from this Saturday and reopening on Monday, 5th October while we give the interior some exciting upgrades!

We’re getting stuck into a facelift behind the scenes—think fresh paint, electrical work, and fixing up a few key spots! 🖌️🔌

We can’t wait to show you the refreshed space once it’s all done. Thanks so much for your patience while we get the clubrooms looking top-notch in the lead-up to the Open! 🏆💪

See you back on the courts on Monday the 5th! 🏸✨

Another grinding session. Not much to go now.

Progress on Court 1 is moving right along! 🔨✨

That’s one wall down, thanks to our fantastic crew of volunteers and helpers (big and small) who have put in the hard yards so far! 🙌

We’re now tackling the next 3 walls to get Court 1 fresh, smooth, and ready for action. The countdown is officially ON for the Open in October! 🏆

Please remember to keep off Court 1 while the work is underway. Court 2 is still available as usual.

Court 1 is officially out of action for the next three weeks while it gets some much-needed R&M! 🛠️✨

For everyone's safety and to let the team work their magic, please strictly stay off Court 1 until further notice. Court 2 remains available as normal.

We will keep you updated with progress photos as things take shape. Thanks for your patience while we begin to give our facility a proper spruce up.

The Hokitika Squash Open 2026 is officially around the corner, and this year’s theme is Wild West Gold Rush!

Whether you are aiming for glory or just keen for a fantastic weekend of squash and great company, this is one tournament you will not want to miss.

Where rivalries are forged and legends are made.

Event Details:

Date: 30th – 31st October 2026
Venue: Hokitika Squash Courts
Grades: All adult grades welcome
Entry Fee: $40($15 per additional head to Saturday night event)

Entries close on the 23rd of October, so get in quick!

Thank you to parent helper Stacey for taking yet another awesome Junior Squash Stars session this Week!! 🌟

It was fantastic seeing our older Squash Stars stepping up to support and encourage our younger players — such amazing teamwork and leadership on display. 💛

The courts were also filled with plenty of laughter, smiles, and fun, making for such a positive atmosphere all around. 😊

We celebrated some huge milestones too:
🏅 One Squash Star achieved 5 consecutive bounces for the very first time!
🏅 Our players are growing in confidence when returning the ball and giving it a go.
🏅 Another Squash Star smashed out 20 bounces on the racket!
🏅 And another reached an impressive 10 volleys on the wall!

We love seeing the determination, confidence, encouragement, and joy growing each week.

Ka pai everyone — keep up the awesome work! 👏🏽
