Will and Head Chef Steve swapped No.5 for the farm and headed out to visit Jamie and Nicky at Matangi Prime Meat LTD.

All of the beef and lamb dishes at No.5 use Matangi meat, so the visit was a chance to see where it comes from, explore the farm and hear more about the story behind the quality we get to serve on our menu.

Of course, a trip to Matangi called for a feed too. Our burgers are made with Matangi Angus smash patty mince, so the Weber came out and Steve cooked up a feast right there on the platform at the farm.

And because our burgers also feature Maison Therese Bread & Butter Pickle, it only made sense for Kate from Maison Therese to join us for the afternoon. 🍔

We’re getting closer to longer summer hours kicking in at No.5 & Golflands, which means more time for coffee, lunch, golf and a few extra hits at the driving range.

From Labour weekend onwards:

Pro Shop ⛳
Monday to Thursday: 7am to 7pm
Friday to Sunday: 6.30am to 7.30pm

Café ☕
Monday to Sunday: 8am to 4pm
(Kitchen closes at 3.30pm)

We’re looking for an Experience & Service Manager to join the No.5 & Golflands crew.

We’re after someone who knows great hospitality, loves working with people and can lead a brilliant front of house team. In return, you’ll be joining a great crew, stepping into a well rewarded role and becoming part of some pretty exciting things ahead at No.5.

It’s a full-time role, Wednesday to Sunday and we’re looking for someone with hospitality management experience who’s ready to make their mark.

Our lasagne is looking way too pretty to eat. But don’t worry, we will. 😉

Layers of savoury Matangi mince and creamy, cheesy béchamel sauce, baked until golden and bubbling, topped with shaved parmesan. And the side that everyone wants... .a jug of extra béchamel sauce to pour over the top!

On the menu: a Sri Lankan-style dry Beef Curry, slow-braised Matangi beef, steamed basmati rice, and a few tricks from Chef Vindana's own kitchen.

The beef's melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the flavour's deep and layered. We've had rave reviews so far!

We’ve put together a special Father’s Day weekend menu for Dad and the whole family. 💙

We’ll be running a slightly smaller menu across the weekend to keep things moving on what is always a busy one at No.5, but there are a few new dishes making an appearance too.

There’s the No.5 Muffin with spiced Holly Bacon New Zealand chorizo pattie, fried egg, avocado, tomato, rosti and orange hollandaise, fluffy pancakes with pineapple mousse and chocolate sauce, plus plenty of favourites including The Benedict, The Fish, The Matangi Angus Beef Burger and options for the kids.

And of course, there’s our Holly Bacon Big Breakfast - loaded with Holly Bacon sausage, streaky bacon, black pudding, baked beans, mushrooms, potato rosti, eggs and more. Order one this weekend, and you’ll also go in the draw to win our $400 No.5 x Holly Bacon Father’s Day prize pack. 🥓⛳️
