Staff wanted: Front of house (part time position)

We are looking for a FOH staff. Hours are mainly during dinner service (5pm til close). You must be able to work weekend.

Candidate must have previous experience within the hospitality industry. You'll have a keen eye for detail and be able to follow procedures as well as give the best customer service. You would have excellent communication skills, great working attitude, willing to learn and hard working. You will have solid experience serving tables and running a section. You have the confidence and maturity to engage with people and ability to problem solve, prioritise and work fast under pressure.

Duties include:
• Seating and taking customer orders
• Serving food and preparing drinks
• Cash handling
• Taking phone order
• Keeping work area clean and tidy
• Cleaning at the end of each shift

It’s getting busier and Rainforest Malaysian Kitchen is looking for another part-time CDP / Junior Chef to join our small team.

4 evenings - Wed to Sat : 4pm to Close
$24 – 27 depending on experience + skills

Job Involves:
--Prepping, cooking to orders (deep-frying, hot-plate, small pots), plating & cleaning

What’s provided:
--Full training of our processes/systems/procedures etc. in the kitchen; very consistent hours unless agreed-overtime orcovering sicks/holiday; appropriate breaks during shifts (free meal & paid breaks), staff discount

What we are looking for:
--Good attitude + humility. Able to work in small team + owners. Willingness to learn + overall good personality.

· Experience in a NZ commercial kitchen (may consider if you are in cooking school)
· Experience in Malaysian cuisine = advantageous
· Experience in wok station/cooking = highly advantageous
· MUST be able to work in NZ; we cannot help you with VISA sorry.

We are looking for a FULL-TIME or PART-TIME CDP with experience in commercial wok-cooking to join our small kitchen team! Stir-fries, fried rice/noodles and everything involving wok.

Previous experience in wok-cooking or Malaysian cuisine will be highly advantageous (must have experience cooking in a commercial kitchen in NZ where you know everything about NZ Food Control Plan, H&S etc.) May start at top of wage range if you have the right experience and attitude.

CDPs who had previous experience in western style cooking (pans, grill, pots, fryer etc.) but looking for new challenges or have interest in Asian style cooking – as long as you have the right attitude, we can train you but will start at lower wage range.

Role Involves:

- Prepping in a clean and efficient manner
- Cooking to restaurant standards and guidelines (systems in place, training provided)
- Stock rotations, stock checks
- The usual cleaning – section, equipment, appliance, dailies, weeklies, monthlies (deep clean)
- Assist in Food Control Plan when needed
- Above all else – MUST HAVE GOOD ATTITUDE and can work with owners + small team

Wage range @ $28 - $32 per hour.
Full - Time: Around 42.5 hours a week (2 evening shift, 3 split shifts)
Part - Time: Around 20 - 25 hours a week (4 evening shifts)
Free Meal per shift, proper breaks, very consistent roster unless covering offs or sick-leave

Hey Rainforest fam! 🌿 We’re making a small change to give our hardworking team some well-deserved rest. Starting this week, we’ll be closed on Mondays & Tuesdays instead of just Tuesdays.

We know this is a bit last-minute (apologies for any inconvenience caused), but we truly appreciate your understanding and support 🙏💚 This change will help us bring you even better food and service on the days we’re open! 😊
