The Annual Festival of Dance kicks off this Friday!
Here's everything you need to know:
✨GENERAL INFORMATION✨
Thank you to those returning to our competition, and a warm welcome to those new to the Greymouth Comps. We are looking forward to a fabulous five days of dance with you. Just a few competition and venue reminders.
🌟 Competitor Passes
Passes will be available to pick up from 3.00pm Friday from inside the auditorium. Once the competition starts they will be available from the table in the tunnel of the auditorium. Pre-purchased season passes will be included in the competitor pack.
🌟 Merch
If you pre-purchased merch, this will be available to pick up from the Raffle Table.
🌟 Tickets
Session, day and season passes are to be purchased from the main counter at the Regent Theatre. You must show these when entering the auditorium to our lovely volunteers at the end of the tunnel. No ticket – no entry. Please keep them safe so we don’t have to ask you to purchase another. Programmes are also available for purchase.
🌟 Teacher Passes
All teachers attending receive a complimentary Teacher's Pass giving you free entry over the course of the competition. These are available to be picked up with the Competitor Passes.
🌟 Rear door entrance
There is NO access through the rear of the theatre. This is an emergency access only as this room is to be used as the boys changing room. We ask all competitors to respect this and enter from front of house.
🌟 Photos and videos
No photos or videos are permitted to be taken unless you have a video/photo pass. These can be picked up with the competitor packs. This is to keep all of our dancers safe.

🌟 Dressing Rooms
Space is limited. Only dancers and one support person (if required) to be in this area. No siblings backstage, unless unavoidable. Some hanging space is available. Girls – upstairs. Boys - Small downstairs room. Girls - Larger downstairs room. Boys, if needing to use the bathroom downstairs please knock and check prior to entering. Move to the backstage warm-up area when you are ready, to keep dressing rooms as uncrowded as possible. Note – the far end of the upstairs change room may still leak. Avoid this area in inclement weather.
🌟 Warm-up area/side of stage
There is a large warm up area. Be side of stage 2 items before you are due to perform and leave the side of stage promptly after your dance.
🌟 Music
A back-up of your music is always recommended. USB or phone.
🌟 Props
Props can be left behind the backdrop curtain in the PROPS PARKING area. These must be kept tidy, with items tucked in against the backstage. Large props can be brought in through a separate backstage access. This must be arranged with the Backstage Manager in the session PRIOR to when they are required.
🌟 Results and presentations
All dancers to be onstage for results and presentations. Certificates, medals and trophies can be picked up from the Backstage Manager at break times only. Teams can purchase additional medals for each member - $5.00 each.
🌟 Impromptus
Gather in the upstairs dressing room for impromptus. You will be marshaled from there. No other competitors will be allowed backstage during this time, unless you remain in the downstairs changing rooms. Any suitable dance attire can be worn in these classes. Modern Duo Impromptu - music will be shared with the competitors at the start of the lunch break on Tuesday. Please report to the Backstage Manager after morning results.
🌟 NYPA
There is no access to the auditorium during either of the NYPA sessions. Please ensure you are seated prior to it starting. There is to be no movement side of stage or backstage during these classes.
🌟 Teams Session
The Teams session will follow NYPA. As there is to be no movement backstage or side of stage, Teams can either wait in the top or bottom dressing rooms, or go backstage in the short break after the NYPA class.
🌟 Parking
There is an active parking warden in town. NO parking in the Court parking area – you may be towed. NO parking is permitted in the lane behind the theatre.
🌟 Raffle
We have a great raffle running. Cash only - $2 ticket or 3 for $5. To be drawn at the end of the competition. Tickets available at the raffle table.
🌟 Food
The Regent Theatre has a special Dance Competition Menu, as well as all of those sweet treats and drinks.
