We’re hiring | Head Barista

The Duck Otepoti is looking for an experienced Head Barista to join our team.

We’re after someone with at least 2 years’ barista experience who is confident on the machine, passionate about coffee and ready to take the lead during busy service.

You’ll be responsible for keeping our coffee consistent and up to standard while supporting the wider team and helping keep the coffee station running smoothly.

The role:
• Head Barista
• Wednesday to Sunday
• The Duck Otepoti, Dunedin
• Minimum 2 years’ barista experience required

If you’re an experienced barista looking for your next step and think you’d be a good fit for The Duck, we’d love to hear from you.

Our new spring menu launches tomorrow and we’ve got some fresh new dishes ready for you.

Think duck fat potatoes, seafood chowder, smashed avo, loaded breakfasts, fish tacos and a few new favourites alongside some of the Duck classics you already love.

We were buzzing to have a full house for the Patti’s and Cream pop-up and even better to see the community come together to support such a great local business.

Good food, a full room and plenty of happy faces. What more could we ask for?

Meet our cutie chef and BOH (Back of House) superstar! 👩‍🍳🐛

Juniper joined the team at the beginning of the year, and honestly... we don't know how we ever managed without her. From baking all the cabinet goodies to whipping up your weekend lunch favourites, she's the magic behind so much of what comes out of our kitchen (and she's also responsible for keeping the kitchen vibes immaculate ✨).
Her favourite cabinet treat to make? Our lemon and poppy seed muffins, of course! 🧁🍋

When she's not absolutely smashing it in the kitchen, you'll usually find her painting, drawing, or treating herself to something sweet at the end of the day 😌

So next time you're tucking into one of our buttery scones, enjoying our famous chopped cheeseburger, or grabbing your weekend lunch, don't forget to give Juni a wave through the kitchen window! 👋💛

We’re on the hunt for a ducking legend to join our team! 🦆✨

This is a fun, varied role across both The Duck café and our food truck. One day you might be serving up smiles in the café, the next you could be out on the road with the truck, helping create great experiences for our customers.

We’re looking for someone who is friendly, reliable and loves being part of a team. Someone who isn’t afraid to jump in, have a laugh and do a little bit of everything.

⭐ Approx. 25.5 hours per week
⭐ Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday shifts
⭐ Extra shifts and leave cover opportunities available
