We visited Jairo earlier this year and got to see his processing and fermentation work first-hand.

For this lot, pineapple is added during fermentation, giving the coffee a pretty distinctive profile - Fruju Tropical Snow and Pineapple Lumps.

Experienced Barista - Approximately 30 Hours

Vanguard Specialty Coffee is looking for a skilled and experienced barista to join our Dunedin team for approximately 30 hours per week for an immediate start.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has strong barista experience and can work confidently in a busy café
- Genuinely enjoys delivering warm, attentive customer service
- Brings a mature, reliable and professional approach to their work
- Is available to work Sundays, with the remaining rostered days negotiated
- Can offer some flexibility when the team needs additional cover
- Communicates well and contributes positively to the wider team
- Takes pride in quality, consistency and keeping a clean, organised workspace

In return, you’ll receive:

We’ve been buying coffee from Diofanor Ruiz for seven years, but meeting him at his farm in Buenavista, Quindío, this year brought a new depth to that relationship. His warmth and generous hospitality are matched by an extraordinary attention to detail, with every stage of production approached thoughtfully and precisely. This washed Castillo is a beautiful reflection of Diofanor’s work: clean, sweet and carefully produced by someone whose craftsmanship and connection to the land are evident in every cup.
