Only TWO more weekends until Augustines is back OPEN! 🥳
Here are a few snaps from our NZ holiday so far. We’re currently in Rotorua, where Gus is out enjoying a long bike ride through the beautiful forest.
So far we’ve been to Wānaka (Father's Day Popina - Queensberry), Christchurch, Hanmer Springs, Kaikōura, Blenheim, Napier and now Rotorua.
Our last stop will include Ōakura, Wellington, Nelson and Golden Bay.
We’re loving spending this time with Otto, exploring, slowing down a little and seeing more of our own backyard.
But we’re also VERY excited to get back to Augustines of Portobello and see you all again SOON!

Hello, Augustines friends!
We have two Toasts of the Week this weekend (until stock lasts) — the smoked mackerel one, as well as the Swiss brown mushroom & pumpkin purée toast from a few weeks ago.
So, a full menu this weekend before we take our September break!
We’re also raising funds for the Cancer Society New Zealand this weekend 💛💛💛. Grab a $2 ticket for your chance to win a mega 2-litre jar of preserved apricots. All proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Society.
Come and see us today or tomorrow for one last Augustines weekend, and then we’ll be back on 2 October.

The last Toast of the Week video with Gus for a little while! And as you can see, he definitely needs a holiday… just look at where that hat is sitting 😂
So, you’ve got two Toasts of the Week to choose from tomorrow. The smoked mackerel toast Gus is talking about here, plus the Swiss brown mushroom and pumpkin purée toast from a couple of weeks ago is back by popular demand.
I’ve also finally sorted the man out with a microphone. What do you guys think? Doesn’t he have a lovely voice? 😂

Happy Thursday! Usually, that means a brand-new Toast of the Week… but because you LOVED it so much, we’re keeping the “fancy chip sandwich”. 😍
Venison, all the good stuff, and today Gus is even teaching you how to make his Blackcurrant Vinaigrette.
Save this video because, you know… we’re soon closed for a whole month of September! 😂

Sunday plans? We’ve got you. ☀️
Toast of the week with shortloin venison, spring is here (see our flowers this week!), our favourite dish eggs & avo, delicious homemade fruit danishes by Gus, sandwiches, and a shelf full of preserves — in case you need a gift for someone, or simply yourself.
See you from 8:30am tomorrow. Takeaways available all day.
For coffees, please bring a takeaway cup — we’re single-use-cup free! ♻️

It’s Thursday, which means a brand new Toast of the Week is back!🔥
Gus is calling this one “venison on toast with blackcurrants and parsnip” or, in his words, “a really fancy chip sandwich.” 😂
We’re not sure which description we love more, but we do know it sounds (and tastes) delicious!❤️

Sunday drive out to the Otago Peninsula tomorrow? 🌿☕️
If you haven’t booked and secured a spot, don’t worry — there are always takeaway cakes (or anything from the menu)!
Gus’s toast of the week is a beauty: Swiss brown mushrooms, pumpkin purée, basil & almond pesto, roasted butternut squash and fresh greens, finished with a delicious damson reduction. 🎃🌿
We’ll also have our popular lamingtons and, of course, our famous meringue tarts with preserved fruit. ✨
Can’t wait to see you guys from 8:30am tomorrow! ❤️
