HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our teammate Lucy! Lucy began working at The Bowling Club a year (& some) ago. 🎈

She is one of those especially “lucky” people… we know so because she’s always winning games of Yahtzee. And we feel our lives have become richer and luckier with Lucy around. 🎈

Here at The Bowling Club, Lucy does a bit of everything - baking, muesli-making, processing orders, packing orders, dishes, serving, general kitchen work, barista’ing, food safety recording, etc. We are so lucky to have her on our team. 🎈

One memory that always sticks with me about Lucy is when she came in on her day off to pick up all the remaining frozen kai parcels (back when we relied on volunteers to deliver them). Lucy spent her free day delivering. “I just don’t want people going hungry,” she said. 🎈

Thank you for all the kindness, TREATS & aroha you exude, Lucy. Happy happy birthday! 🎈

Lucy has been making loooads of BEAUTIFUL carrot cake with cream cheese icing this week. Thank you for spoiling us all on your bday, Lucy (and always). ☮️🧡🥣

We don’t have much time to write, but here’s what tonight’s kai looks like! Your choice of:

🔸 Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie ($5 meal)
🔸 Roast chicken thigh & roast spuddies ($8 meal)
🔸 Whole lamb shank & roast spuddies ($15 meal)

All meals come with a cauliflower cheese bake, roast pumpkin & our housemade tomato relish 🍅

Thank you to everyone who comes over & gives The Bowling Club a homely warmth. We’ve got lots of yummy homely kai for you today - ravioli and pork lasagna (or shepherd’s pie!) 🥧 🍅

One of my favourite parts of working at The Bowling Club is the unexpected relationships that are formed here. It’s funny how many ordinary moments (like sharing chats over the counter) cumulate into something so rich: like our friendship with Zara and Timothy (pictured here - with another dear friend Bowling Club brought into our lives: Kimberly!). 🧡

Timothy & Zara have been customers of The Bowling Club since our food-caravan-days, always cheering us on (in their soft-spoken, sweet-natured way), supporting our free frozen meal programs, and creating time to understand what The Bowling Club is all about. 🧡

They’ve invited us over for meals at their home, brought back souvenirs for us from their trips (all of Liam’s favourite shorts are from Timothy & Zara), strive to understand us as people (outside of our work), and generally provide a kind & steady presence at the eatery. 🧡

It was Zara’s birthday last week, and Timothy’s is just days away, so it’s the season to celebrate them, their generosity & their kindness. Happy, happy birthday to you, Z & T. 🧡

People often say something like, “wow it feels really good in here” when they come into the eatery. We’re convinced it’s because of people like Timothy & Zara who have shared countless meals in the dining room - radiating love and care. Ordinary moments culminating into something so rich; The Bowling Club is seeped in goodness because of people like them. 🧡

Thank you for being here, Zara & Timothy, and to all the people radiating goodness wherever they go. You all inspire us greatly. Thank you. 🧡

Our first roast-style dinner was a big hit last week (even on a wacky weather day!). Thank you all for coming out to support us! ❤

We're going to try and make Tuesday-Roast-Day a regular meal. This week, we have an affordable vegetarian roast meal ($5, or free if you need it to be), a standard meaty roast meal (chicken - $8 or discounted for as little as $3 if needed), and a premium lamb shank roast meal for $15. 🔸

We are trying to keep accessible & nourishing options available, while also providing nutritious kai that feels special & worth venturing out of the house on a cold's winter night for. Thank you for spending your chilly nights here at The Bowling Club! ❄🌟

Happy Friday Wrap day, everybody! 🌯

Ya know we have wraps everrrrryday, but we have a bigger selection of salads & proteins on Fridays!! We always have Whitestone Cheese halloumi (grilled fresh for you! - this is the protein in Lucy’s wrap-pack-pic!).

And in addition to our other regular proteins (falafel & chicken salad), we have:

🔸 whole lamb shank
🔸 pork schnitzel
🔸 beef slow-cooked in rendang curry paste

We have the same menu for lunch and dinner on Fridays- so we’d love to see ya now (til 2pm) oe later on (4 to 7:45pm) for lots of wrappy goodness! ☮️🧡🥣
