We’re looking for a skilled, organised cook to join our team, focusing on prep and service in Caribe’s central kitchen, with assistance to El Fogón Grill as needed.

You’ll prepare proteins, sauces and other core recipes, handle large production batches, and keep dishes moving during busy service with consistent quality and presentation.

We’re looking for someone with:

✅ At least 2 years’ commercial kitchen experience
âś… Strong practical cooking skills and confident knife skills
âś… The ability to work quickly, efficiently and accurately
âś… Experience following and scaling recipes for large batches
âś… Good organisation, portion control and food safety practices
âś… A reliable, positive attitude and respectful approach to teamwork

You’ll need to manage your prep, keep your station clean and organised, and communicate well with the team. Experience with Latin American food or grill cooking is welcome, but solid kitchen skills and a willingness to learn are what matter most.

We’re building a supportive team that takes pride in its food and helps each other succeed.

WE’RE HIRING – KITCHEN HAND | IMMEDIATE START

We’re looking for a reliable Kitchen Hand to join our team at Caribe Latin Kitchen & El Fogón Grill, Little High Eatery, Christchurch.

We need someone who can start as soon as possible, so this would be ideal for someone ready to jump straight into work.

The role will include general kitchen hand duties such as dishwashing, cleaning, deep clean of the bbq, fryers and other areas, assisting with basic food prep, keeping work areas organised and supporting our chefs during busy services.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Reliable and turns up when they say they will
Not phased at getting their hands dirty as deep cleans are required
Happy working in a busy kitchen environment
Comfortable with evening and weekend shifts
Able to work well as part of a team
Hard-working with a good attitude
Ideally has some kitchen experience, although we’re happy to train the right person

Front of House / Bartender

We operate in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment and need someone who can hit the ground running, stay calm when it gets busy, and genuinely enjoy looking after customers.

What we're looking for:

🌟 Previous FOH hospitality experience is essential
🌟 LCQ preferred
🌟 Confident with POS, taking orders, payments and cash handling
🌟 Comfortable serving alcohol and working in a busy licensed environment
🌟 Cocktail making advantageous
🌟 Friendly, outgoing and confident with customers
🌟 Fast, organised and able to think on your feet
🌟 Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team
🌟 Happy to muck in — we're a small team and everyone helps each other

Weekend availability is essential
Must be available for a mixture of day and evening shifts

The role will include opening and closing shifts, so we're particularly interested in someone experienced enough to confidently take responsibility for a service.

About us

Caribe Latin Kitchen is based at Little High Eatery in central Christchurch, serving Latin American street food and South American-style barbecue.

We're busy, lively and informal. Our customers can see the kitchens, the food moves fast, and no two services are quite the same.

We're looking for someone who brings good energy, takes pride in doing things properly, and can become a reliable part of the team rather than someone just looking to pick up the occasional shift.

Hours: To be discussed with the right applicant. Regular days, nights and weekend shifts available.

On 10 September from 7–8pm we’ll get you into the conga line with a LIVE mariachi band from , traditional Mexican dancers in their colourful dresses, and Mexican games with prizes to be won!
