Meet Tim Bourne, Head Winemaker at Escarpment.

For Tim, great wine is all about balance, when everything comes together so seamlessly that no single element stands out. Guided by tradition and shaped by thoughtful innovation, he has helped craft some of New Zealand’s most celebrated wines.

Inspired by regions like Burgundy, his approach centres on harmony in the glass. The 2024 Escarpment vintage is a current favourite expression of that craft, while Riesling remains a wine he believes deserves greater recognition.

A firm believer that New Zealand's winemaking future relies on both tradition and experimentation, Rudi has spent decades helping shape Central Otago into one of the world's most exciting wine regions.
