In Bavaria, the Kaiser Bier Haus was never just a place to drink. People came from far and wide to gather, to reconnect, share stories, and stay longer than they planned. Paula ran the front. Leonhard kept the brewery going out back. The occasion took care of itself.

A few generations later, not much has changed. Kaiser has the space for any occasion. Mezzanine, Beer Hall, or the full venue. Birthdays, work drinks, end of year, anything worth gathering for. Steins, pizza, sharing platters.

Antipasto means "before the meal." In Italy, it was never really about the food - it was about slowing the table down. Something to pick at, something to pour a drink over, a reason to stay seated while the night found its pace.

150 years ago, the Kaiser Bier Haus in Bavaria was the place people came when the nights got cold and the occasion called for good company.

This weekend, Christchurch gets its version. The Riverside Market European Mid Winter Christmas Festival is on Saturday and Sunday, and we're right upstairs.
