Family to Family is back for 2026 and we are beyond grateful to the team at New World Wigram for always having our back! Once again this year they have chosen us to be their donee partner ! A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of you who donate to this amazing initiative where nation wide New World are supporting Food banks help get essentials into the homes of those who need it the most .
Not only are they supporting us with Family 2 Family they also allow to collect items 3 times a week from their store and are supporting us all year round however they can
Appreciate you all and all you do for us !

Family2Family is back for 2026!
This year, New World is donation $250,000 to local food charity partners across Aotearoa. We are supporting the amazing HoonHay Food Bank with direct donations of essential goods to help local families in need.
Getting involved is easy: • Fill a paper bag with pantry essentials, or • Purchase a pre‑filled $20 bag.
We’ll take care of the rest.
Thanks to your generosity, we donated 309 bags last year as part of this incredible campaign. Let’s see if we can beat that number in 2026.
Every bag makes a real difference for families in our community.

Kia ora everyone ! While we have been quiet on Facebook this year , it’s not because we haven’t been up to much, it’s quite the opposite. The first couple months of the year are so hard for so many with a lot of expenses , expectations and back to school costs so we have been super busy doing what we do but we have a lot to catch up on to share what we have been up to! Today we have a massive thank you to our amazing supporters at Z! Last year Nicky , Hamish , Anton , Mark and the team reached out to us to put these amazing donation boxes in their stores , and wow ! What an amazing response - a huge thank you to Z and the Hattrick team for contiously having our backs and supporting us ! Today they delivered us an amazing gift $1500 has been raised for the Hoonhay Food Bank through their donation boxes ! We appreciate each and every one of you who has contributed to this , to the ones who sent it photos , donated and shared thank you and of course to Z who continue to rally for us through out the year ! Without you we couldn’t do what we do !

An unexpected suprise thanks to the beautiful people at The Farm Shop - Jade Garden Produce for us to be able to do another vege only give away today - please be kind and only take what you need we want this to reach those who are in need of a hand to get through this tough time . This is a small give away to help those who need it please bring your own bag and enter the ROWLEY AVE ENTRANCE OF THE MCCARTHY STREET SHOPS and drive behind our shop.

Please be respectful and kind to our neighbours and volunteers who have been called in at short notice to make this happen - on now until until 3pm or until it runs out

Kiaora we are on the hunt for any old extension cords we dont need anything flash or with the plugs on 😊 we are hooking up speakers outside where the volunteers do all there work and they all love listening to music so any help would be greatly appreciated

Kia ora whanau , today we said goodbye to our dearly beloved friend , mentor and board member Luan . This amazing lady has dedicated her life to helping EVERYONE . It’s hard to put into words just how much she done through her work with aviva , children who have had troubles in their childhood , her work with us and so much more . A testament to her life’s work was her service today and the love in the room she left a legacy thats for sure ! . Even through her health struggles she continuously tried to lighten our load without a word of her own struggles . Her wish list of helping people and how she could help was forever her husband Pete’s “to do list “ as he put it today . The most loving mamma to her beautiful boys and loving wife to her hubby Pete and she was genuinely “that person” to everyone the first one to help, the first one to call, the first one to jump in whenever needed .

We will forever miss you Luan.. more than we can say. Thank you is not a big enough word for everything you have done for us as a family and for your time love and advice and work towards the Hoonhay food bank

This year we were asked to Come in and decorate a tree with Rotary Ōtautahi Passport as a fundraiser for local food banks including us! Of course we had to decorate to our theme of food ! A huge thank you to Deb and all of the team who are organising this and to our 2 amazing volunteers Lavina and Rose for decorating this for us 🙂 and Lavina thank you for making all of the decorations from the mini foods ! So many amazing trees and they have a fun weekend planned with raffles and Carols and more 🙂
