It's Saturday which means the A Team have got you today, which also means Co-Pilot Cooper will be doing all of the work for everyone.

Scones are out of the oven, the cabinets are full and the doors are officially open until 2pm.

If anyone needs me this afternoon, I'll be having to nap all day because Junior Scone Boy has his 21st birthday party tonight and it STARTS after my bedtime.

Here's to a day full of shenanigans followed by an evening of more shenanigans and then a night of even more shenanigans at the McKenzie Manor. (Thanks Trace, not sure if JSB told you about that part yet!)

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO JUNIOR SCONE BOY.

Twenty-one years ago, the universe made a decision that would eventually result in one very specific problem for us: Curtis.

What started as a Saturday-school-job arrangement has somehow evolved into this absolute weapon becoming a fully fledged member of the The A Team. From stacking shelves and doing dishes to taking on increasingly questionable levels of responsibility, Junior Scone Boy has gone from “the kid” to “he's actually pretty useful”

And now he’s 21.

Curtis, you’ve grown into one hell of a young man. You’re loyal, bloody hardworking, occasionally sensible, frequently questionable, and somehow still willing to answer the phone when I call you - no matter what you're doing at the time.

We’ve had the early mornings, the ridiculous shifts, the absolute disasters, the laughs, the arguments, the “what the fark are you doing?” moments and enough scone-related trauma to last several lifetimes.

And somewhere along the way, you stopped being just a staff member and became part of the furniture.

Unfortunately, like most furniture around here, you’re now far too expensive to replace.

So today, Junior Scone Boy graduates into the terrifying world of adulthood. Wishing you an AMAZING birthday JSB!

Now go make some questionable decisions. Just don't make them on work time.

In something that can also be read in less than 75 seconds, you'll be pleased to know that I too was not rolled as Leader of The Bakery yesterday. Which is ridiculous because my mouth gets me into trouble all the time (it's also one of my best assets 😜) and even more ridiculous because now I have to bake a ginormous amount of scones for today for the shop and for catering.

I too will not be taking questions. That is all.

It's that magical day of the week where Karen from Accounts remembers at 10:14am that she's meant to be shouting morning tea for 47 people at 10:00am.

Did you happen to invent a time machine on the way here?

Around here I lovingly call these "unicorn orders" because apparently someone expects us to produce 50 freshly baked scones that have been personally blessed, lightly pi**ed on by a unicorn, buttered, boxed, labelled, and ready to go... Ready in approximately 12 minutes ago. And it usually happens every Friday. Several times. 🤣🦄

If you've got a work shout, morning tea, birthday, retirement, celebration, apology, or just a "we survived another meeting" gathering that you kept secret from us but knew about it 2 weeks ago - we'll do our best to hook you up. Cause it's Friday.

The ovens are hot, the coffee is flowing, the wine is chilling, and there's a suspicious amount of flour covering everything we own and My Annoying Sister is giving me the side eye about it.

⚡⚡A planned power outage will occur all day tomorrow from 9am...⚡⚡

The biggest cost to us tomorrow is having to close. Our second biggest cost tomorrow will be wasted product. So...

WE ARE AIMING TO SELL OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER 9AM.

Once we have sold most of our stock, we will close for the day - I'll update you here, and place signage in the shop window. We do have generators, they'll keep the cabinets hot or cold. But we cannot replenish them...

It is what it is 🙂

Right team, a little heads up for THIS WEDNESDAY.

We've got a planned power outage from 9:00am until around 3:00pm.

Our back up generators will be unable to run all of our equipment, so what I do know is we will be closing early on this day - at a time to be decided by a few factors.

So here's the battle plan:

At 9:00am our hot cabinets will be absolutely heaving. Every pie, every sausage roll, every savoury delight we can physically squeeze into them will be ready to go. Think panic-buying before a cyclone... except with considerably better pastry.

Once those cabinets are empty, that's it. There won't be any top-ups. Because there can't be any top-ups.

We'll also have:
• A smaller range of sandwiches and filled rolls
• Donuts, cakes, slices and other cabinet goodies
• Cold drinks (although they'll become less chilled as the day goes on)
• EFTPOS will be working as normal at this stage

Unfortunately, after 9am, we won't have:
• Coffee - our coffee machine will not be going
• Fried food - our deep fryer will not be going

First and foremost, our decision to close will be dictated by our Food Safety obligations but we'll remain open while we have stock available. Once things start looking a little too "picked over by hungry seagulls", we'll make the call to close for the day. As soon as that decision is made (or looks imminent), we'll update everyone here on Facebook.

If Wednesday is normally your pie, scone, or buy-lunch day, we'd suggest making it an early visit. If I have more information I need to share or if I need to share any updates, I will post them here.

My Annoying Sister is back to work today and you'd think she never took 6 weeks off the way she acting like she knows everything. I've already been given the side eye 👀

Anyway, let's head into another week - lots on the radar but I'll update you all on that later before I get the side eye 👀 for being on facey and not on scone duty.
