Most baklava sold today is imitation. It’s assembled to look right, not made the right way.

Our handcrafted selection, made fresh on the day and built entirely from scratch, now prepared for Small Town Winery to accompany their fine range of Astrolabe wines. 🍷🥖

Our home made Turkish pide bread is baked fresh from a 30-hour rested dough made only with water, salt, premium flour and Turkish olive oil. 🫒

Hummus made with 24-hour soaked, hand-peeled chickpeas, Ottoman-inspired ingredients, and olive oil from the Aegean region of Türkiye our hometown Milas, a place known for producing world-class olive oil.

Handcrafted patlıcan ezmesi (eggplant dip) roasted eggplant finished with olive oil, lemon and salt, tailored for wine platters.

Made from scratch. Prepared fresh.

This is 100% local delivered raw 🐑🥩 straight from the butcher, stacked and rolled by hand. Prepared in house using ottoman inspired herbs.

🍞 Our Tombik bread is as simple as it gets: flour, water, salt. Rested 30 hours, baked fresh every morning.

Pressed onto the spit, it soaks up the golden lamb juices rich in B12, iron, zinc, packed with real flavour 🥵

🌶️ We finish it the proper way: with our own homemade chilli, yogurt & garlic sauces.

Akbaba’s x Small Town Winery

For over a year, we’ve partnered with Small Town Winery— producers of the award-winning Astrolabe Wines — supplying traditional Turkish breads and house-made hummus crafted to complement Marlborough’s finest pours. 🍷🍇

Our Turkish breads are baked fresh in-house each morning at Akbaba’s Blenheim, using a 30-hour rested dough — hand-dimpled, golden outside, soft and airy inside. No preservatives. No shortcuts.

The hummus is made with whole chickpeas soaked for 24 hours, slow-cooked, and blended to a silky finish using our 30-year family recipe.

The final touch?
It’s finished with first-press olive oil from Türkiye’s Aegean region — one of the world’s top three olive oil regions for quality, known for its clean flavour, rich aroma, and naturally high antioxidants.

The result is intentionally balanced for wine — smooth, subtle, and made to complement the glass beside it.
