Happy Father’s Day everybody! 🍺❤️

Unfortunately, we’ve had over 40 people cancel their bookings for today 🤦‍♂️

We absolutely appreciate that plans change, but please bear in mind that for small restaurants like ours, last-minute cancellations can have a pretty big impact. We’ve rostered staff, started cooking all the BBQ and turned away bookings because we thought we were full.

A big thank you to those of you who did give us a couple of days’ notice, we really appreciate it! That gave us a chance to reopen those tables for someone else :)

This definitely isn’t just about us, it goes for all restaurants and cafés. It’s been a difficult year for hospitality, so being as efficient as possible on the big days is super important.

The good news is we now have some tables available over lunchtime and early afternoon! ☀️🍺

👑🍺 DAD DRINKS LIKE A KING THIS WEEKEND!

You guys have absolutely come through for Father’s Day, Sunday is now almost fully booked! (Just a few tables available in the evening)

But we know plenty of dads have to work Sunday… so why not celebrate a day early?

We’ve still got plenty of tables available Saturday so we’re kicking off our Father’s Day celebrations early:

🔥 FATHER’S DAY AT THE SMOKIN’ GOOSE 🔥

Looking for somewhere special to take Dad this Father’s Day weekend?

Our Smoked Beef Short Rib Special is available Saturday AND Sunday! 2 x NZ beef short ribs, served with fries, coleslaw and gravy for $69.

And yes... the photo really doesn’t do these things justice 😂 Each serve starts with around 800g of beef short ribs before they hit the smoker!

These beasts are lovingly smoked for hours using locally sourced mānuka and tāwā from Brosnahans Smoking Woodchips, before being finished in a rich beef stock until fall-apart tender. 🔥

Pete was even happy enough to give these Father’s Day ribs his seal of approval 😂🍺

🌤 Currently the weather’s looking better on Saturday, so there’s no need to wait until Sunday to celebrate. Come out Saturday, grab a cold beer and make the most of our outdoor area while the kids have plenty of room to run around 😀

Or join us Sunday for Father’s Day itself, we’ll have the smokers going and plenty of BBQ ready for the father figures in your life!

🥩 FATHER’S DAY SHORT RIB SPECIAL 🍖

A little update on our Father’s Day short ribs…

When we tested the Wagyu beef ribs, they were exactly what we wanted. But when our big order arrived, the ribs turned out quite a bit smaller than the testers 🤏

And if we’re putting a Father’s Day feast on the table, we want it to be worth it. 👌

So we’ve made the call to switch to NZ grass-fed Savannah beef short ribs, bigger, meatier ribs and simply better value on the plate + just as tasty 😋

It’s a serious feed, enough for two if Dad is willing to share. 😏

So the Wagyu ribs absolutely ran away with it 😂

We’ve actually got a limited number of these ribs available this weekend as our smokehouse special (to make sure we get our cooking process nailed before attempting to cook hundreds of them in one go 😂)

So if you fancy trying them early, come and give them a go! They won’t be the full $69 Father’s Day meal just yet, this weekend we’ll be serving the Wagyu short ribs individually with our house made chimmichurri.

Father's Day is only 3 weeks away! ❤️

Sunday 6th September is traditionally one of our busiest days of the year, so firstly, thank you for all the support!

We want to make sure your dads and father figures get the best feed possible, so we've put together 3 options for our Father's Day special and we want you to choose the winner!

All three will be $69, served with fries & coleslaw and come with around 500–600g of cooked meat. Definitely generous enough to share... if Dad's willing 😂

We've ignored sensible food costing with these portion sizes 😄 but it's Father's Day, so we're going with it!

1. Double TomaPORK 🐷
Two smoked pork tomahawk steaks with apple sauce

2. Double Wagyu 🥩
2 x Wagyu beef short ribs

3. Lamb Rump 🐑
2 x Smoked lamb with mint sauce

TAKEAWAY? ABSOLUTELY 🔥

Just a reminder that we do offer a takeaway service, perfect for those nights when you want to treat yourself without the effort of eating out.

We’ve now moved away from Uber Eats. Unfortunately, being out of town meant drivers weren't often nearby, so you couldnt order very often. When you did manage to place an order delays with driver collections were common meaning food was sometimes sitting longer than we were happy with. If our name is on the food, we want you getting it at its best!

So while we don’t currently offer delivery, you can still order your Smokin’ Goose favourites directly from us and pick them up fresh from the restaurant. It works out much cheaper for you this way too :)
