After 4 incredible years with us, our sous chef Emilio is heading home to Italy with his fiancée 🇮🇹

We’re proud of him, excited for his next chapter… and now looking for the right chef to step into some very big shoes.

SPIGA is searching for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join our small 2-Hatted team in Remuera, Auckland.

We’re looking for someone with strong Italian cuisine experience, calm leadership during service, excellent prep and organisational skills, and a genuine passion for quality food and hospitality.

The role includes:
• Working closely with chef-owner Fabrizio
• Menu development & seasonal specials
• Wine dinners, private events & catering
• Team leadership & kitchen operations
• Handmade pasta, Roman-style pizza & exceptional produce

45–48 hours per week.
No visa sponsorship available.
Applicants must currently reside in New Zealand.

People think all pasta is the same. It isn’t.

Most industrial pasta is dried aggressively in just a few hours at very high temperatures to maximise production speed.

Mancini is different.

Their wheat is grown on their own fields in Le Marche, Italy, then slowly dried for up to 44 hours at low temperatures to preserve the natural characteristics of the wheat itself.

The result?
A firmer bite, better sauce absorption, deeper flavour, and pasta that actually tastes of wheat — nutty, rich, and full of character.

Bronze cut.
Slow dried.
Never rushed.

Today, Fabrizio proudly joined the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride — a remarkable global charity ride raising awareness and support for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.

Hundreds of dapper-dressed gents rolled through Auckland in style, finishing down at the Viaduct where the sun was shining and the SPIGA gelato cart was waiting to cool everyone down.

A brilliant day for a brilliant cause — good people, good bikes, and plenty of gelato. 🍦🏍️☀️
