Chikmagalur is famous for its serene environment, lush green forests and tall mountains. It is famous for coffee and is known as the ‘coffee land’ of Karnataka. It is one of the largest producers of coffee in India. The climate and soil are ideal. Malabar Coffee is one of the best coffees in the world. It is a tightly guarded secret of the region as production of this quality is limited. The Indian government is now encouraging local farmers to increase production to meet the export market.
